E-bay Festool Purchases & Warranty

I'm recently new into the world of Festool and am very pleased with the quality and the pure enjoyment I get using them.

I see quite a few Festool items, both new and used on e-bay and question what warranty coverage is there on these tools. Festool's literature is quite clear that their 1+2 warranty is only valid to the original purchaser. Yet I see sales of 'near' new and other used tools for private sale going for near new prices. Does everyone think that because it's a Festool you won't need a warranty. I'm not so sure I have that much faith in Festool's quality control that I'm prepared to risk my $900 - $1,000 for a used Domino joiner. I've seen a video of the inside workings and there is just too much that could go wrong in there to not have the warranty coverage.

So could some please explain how the warranty works for these purchases.

Thanks

DC

Well given your user name I'm going to guess your up north in Canada, Festool USA extends the warranty beyond the original owner on all N. American Festool tools. If you're in N. America the tool is under for the full three years.

Edited to add: Welcome to the forum!

Thanks Brice. You're right I am from the Great White North. I also heard from Shane at Festool USA as well. I've asked my local supplier this question but never really got a clear answer. This helps with my future Festool purchases. :)

Where are you located? There are not a lot of Festool users in Canada... therefore it's nice to see another one "popping' up  ;D

For retailers, I can highly recommend Dan from http://ultimatetools.myshopify.com/

Cheers from Victoria,BC

Thanks Andreas for the positive feedback. Mr WoodCanuck has been to the shop once or twice.

Welcome to the forum  ;) and yes, the warranties are transferable.
