I have been plagued for the last two months by the plug in on my CT22.  At first I had spotty use with tools on auto but today while cutting dovetails my trusty vac flatlined.  With no back up vacuum available I had no choice but to fix it.

As it turns out, it is a very easy fix.  The metal prongs that make the electrical contact and provide the friction to hold the male end of the plug-it over time bend away from the conact points.  Festool, like many German companies build equipment to last and to be very repairable.  Turns out the plug is removable and has one screw to remove the guts and bend the prongs back out.  The repair set me back twenty minutes as opposed to driving 60 mile one way to buy the part and the drive home to replace the part.  Thank you Festool for buying or making parts worth repairing.

hi chris. i have never had this problem, but if i do, i now know how to fix it.
cheers, justin.

If your vac is under warranty, Festool will send a replacement plug.

I had the same issue with my CT22 and had the replacement part in hand in about three days.  No questions asked.

I don't think my vac is under warrenty any longer, I can not wait for a part if I can fix the issue this easily, and why discard a part that is not obsolete.  These are most certainly issues that I look for when buying high-end tools.  Back in the day I was a repair tech for Rockwell, Delta, and Porter Cable and that is how they were built twenty years ago.  Its good to see that some still builds a tool worth fixing.

Thanks for posting that. I was trying to figure out what part to order after battling this off and on for a few years with my CT-33. 10 minutes and the plug is nice and snug now. It's always embarrassing when you battle these annoyances for years with odd fixes or work arounds when the actual fix is just a simple, straightforward repair! lesson learned. (again....)

if we are talking about the same thing:

i have a 33 and the outlet got sloppy very quickly - i ended up getting a good surge protector / power strip, plugged it in to the vac outlet and then zip tied it across the front of the hose garage. the festool cases still fit and click on top, plus the power strip lets me have several tools plugged in at once. and the fit on the power strip never loosens
