I've recently purchased a basically brand new but preowned CXS 12 2.5 Set and was curious about getting an eccentric chuck. I have seen both the EX-UNI and the DD-ES listed for sale and was wondering what the difference is, if any. And yes that was a drive-by gloat.

Ha ha ha.
Here is my gloat: I have two Festool drills and they each have their own eccentric bit holders. And my little Bosch drill has one as well.
Wait a minute….are we even talking about the same thing?

I'm not sure what the actual difference between the current EX-UNI and (what I believe is) the older DD-ES. I was inclined to think that the DD-ES was designed for older FastFix drills - then I looked up which Eccentric I have for my CXS 12 (the same as yours), and it's the DD-ES - which fits perfectly well (as far as I can tell since I don't have an EX-UNI to compare).

I might of heard the ex uni can handle more torque

I thought the main difference between them is you need to unmount and reposition the DD-ES to change the driver position, whereas the EX-UNI is indexable via a rotating ring on the body to make changing driver position super easy.

From memory I think it might be in 45 degree increments, but don't quote me.

And I can attest to the torque of the EX-UNI, it's absolutely sensational and performs far better than I anticipated or hoped. I'm so glad I finally bought it.
