EHL 65 Planer - Any sign of a redesign to include a plugit cord

I am considering the EHL 65 Planer but very disappointed that it does not have a plug-it connection.
Does anyone know if Festool are going to redesign the planer to include this.
It would be just my luck if I bought one now and then Festool announce an upgraded version.
I know I could retrofit a pigtail myself but this would not be anyway near as neat as a factory fitted connector.

On a planer, plugits are silly.
Here is why. Voltage.
Same as if you were spinning the 2200 router.
I have been there and done that.
Some tools need absolutely no lag.
Besides the safety concerns.
And yeah its worth every nickle.

I did the conversion anyway and my EHL65 features the pigtail. I bought the longer pigtail and it was a bit of a hassle to fit it but it works nicely and it is not in the way. I use it a lot and for two days I have been in a dank, muddy and dark raw basement (singing Makitas praises for including the LED light in the screwdriver/drill) where I worked with the EHL 65 and the RTS 400 on a small "workbench" if you can call a piece of plaster that and considering electricity was scarce I was sure glad I had the pigtails on them.

PS, I shortened the cord slightly after fitting it. I also had to strip off the green cord to some extent as there is hardly any room for the wiring inside the EHL: the internal wiring is very small but it worked out nicely. I have had it like this for months and no glitches.

I also fitted most of my Bosch and Makita stuff; grinders, drills and even the Fein Supercut with them pigtails. Last renovation I made I brought five tools and one cord. It was so sweeet.

I love this little planer it has loads of power with none of the weight associated with most other planers, it leaves a brilliant finish and the single spiral blade really is the business, but its only little niggle is the fact that it doesn't have the plug it cord, I will probably do the conversion ( if I ever get round to it ) but I think Festool should start fitting them as standard. That said it wouldn't stop buying one if they didn't.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but surely the issue isn't power as the OF 1400 is 1400W and it has a plug it cord and the  the EHL 65 is only 720W ?

ireland: officially the EHL 65 cannot be fitted with the pigtail. When I opened it up it turned out to be slightly cumbersome as there is hardly any room for fitting the wiring - you cannot just chuck in the wiring as the EHL will not close up after fitting it but with patience, some cable stripping and the longer of the plug it cords it can be done.

I am not sure what Per means, care to explain Per?

Point taken if its gonna be a hassle I'l just leave it as it is.
I see you have the base unit, I've been thinking of getting one, would you reccomend it ?

Ireland: the base unit works well, at one point I did use it a lot and I almost thought I would have to get another EHL 65 attached to it permanently as I was doing a lot of interior trims and I could trim down long and thin strips of wood with great precision. It also fits together (not necessarily mounted) with the EHL 65 in a no 2 Systainer.
Having said that I haven't used it for the past six months or so, so I won't dedicate a planer to the base unit - it is not a hassle to set it up and since it fits in the Systainer it can tag along without taking up unnecessary space. First time I used it it was a bit scary running those delicate pieces over the planer facing up and near the fingers  but eventually I got past it.
