Elm table.....

Long time reader first time poster.... Here is a spalted elm table with a walnut base in progress still have to finish the bottom. Just checking for fit when I snapped the pic...

PS...I travel for work so I'm currently in Iowa in my fifthwheel RV. I
do my woodworking in a shop I have built in a 20 ft cargo trailer. It's small but it works.

Thanks for the kind comments.... The all the wood is from Iowa, there is a older couple not far from where I'm staying that has a sawmill, planer and kiln. They have some really awesome lumber and slabs.

Tabe is 5' x 2'6" and 30" tall

As far as the build everything is joined with dominos with exception of the top and the little support peices. I cut all the curves with the festool jigsaw and sanded with either the RO 125 or by hand.

The post by RonMiller is right on.... I have piddled with wood since I was in high school but with travel I never had time at home enough to do much until I discovered Festools a couple years ago....the dust collection is fantastic when working in such a small space.

Does the table have the three leg design just because it is cool or does it need to fit somewhere special?  In the RV?

The three leg design is just for looks and to see how sturdy it would be, and actually I was quite surprised it's pretty steady......  this one is going in our breakfast nook at home. I have been toying with the idea for building a cool table for the RV just havent quite decided what i want to do yet. If anyone has built tables with somekind of storage built-in for smaller spaces i'd love to see some pictures.

You have me very curious how you manage to haul the 5th wheel AND the shop trailer if you need to relocate long-distance. I assume you just make 2 trips?

Yes sir... Two trips ; or sometimes I talk one of the other guys into pulling it for me for a few $ of course

I also found some old fur flooring here in Iowa from a building dating back to around 1870 or so and made some end table tops to replace some I had.... Other than having to carry the flooring down three flights of inside stairs it was a fun Sunday project a few weeks ago
