Embedded videos not showing correctly

I've ben having an issue recently with embedded youtube videos in posts.

When I click on them to play, I get the sound, but no pictures - just a blank white screen. If I click on the 'watch on youtube' button, it plays fine on there. Embedded videos on other sites seem to work fine.

Maybe I'm missing a driver/plug-in, but the fact that it's fine everywhere else would suggest (to me at least!) that's not the case?

It's not really a problem as like I said I can watch them on youtube's website, but just thought I'd mention it.

I have the same issue sometimes but never on FOG. Another issue is that (again, I cant recall on FOG) often I can't play embedded video as it doesnt load. When directing to youtube it plays fine.

Is it happening on just one computer / device or more than one?

In my case, I use an ipad3 tablet I get video, but no sound. When I view same on YouTube, all is ok. If I view same on laptop, 50/50 as to sound. Always have video, just sound is my issue.

The forum uses an add-on that automatically takes the YouTube URL entered by a forum member and converts it into the HTML code needed to embed the video on the page. That code is currently using Flash player, which isn't supported by Apple. YouTube has an updated embed code, but the add-on we're using is no longer updated by the author, so we're stuck with what we have for the moment.

The internet has be around since the early 1980's. You would think problems like not support flash would have gone by the wayside along time ago...

Apple and Adobe are not friends and don't play nice together. They have competing technologies.

Even with my ipad, I get both video and sound on most.. Some appear to have issues, but not all. The issue for me does not seem to be "flash" but it only occurs when I view on FOG.  So the "send me to uTube" may be missing something on my end.

At this point we should all be playing nice in the sandbox, competing technologies aside.

Kind of like the early days of television with the battle of Electromechanical vs Electronic television, or video tape formats Beta vs VHS or Video Disk standards HD-DVD vs Bluray. Companies need to JUST MAKE IT WORK.

You can't expect a new technology to become a standard right away. There has to be competition, eventually leading to the survival of the fittest technology.

But what Apple does on the other hand, by not supporting Flash, is simply trolling. Apple is really good at trolling.
