End User Training: Advanced Router Techniques on Nov. 11-12 in Vegas (CLOSED)

The router class was great.  I have used the 700 and 1400 extensively but learned how to make even better use of them.  The LR-32 was something we got to practice with extensively - both for making shelf holes and for hinge mounting cuts.  Initially, I was afraid of using the 2200 but it turned out to be docile as a lamb and made shaper type cuts with ease.

Steve and Brian are terrific instructors, honest when asked "hard" questions, very knowledgeable and experienced,  full of good humor and excellent representatives of Festool.  The class is well organized and uses projects that help participants really learn how to use the tools.

Thanks Steve, Brian and Festool,

Joe

I agree with what Carroll and Joe have said -- the class was awesome and Brian and Steve were very knowledgeable about all things Festool.  Using each of the routers in the line-up along with the various accessories like the LR32 and MFS system was a real treat.  You can read all about these tools and accessories but it is no subsitute for having a chance to use them first hand.  Swinging a raised panel bit in the OF2200 hand held was amazing and it was great to see just how versatile the Festool routers are, especially when paired with the right accessories.  It was also nice to learn more about the "system" and how everything works together.  Steve and Brian had a great sense of humor and it made the class a lot of fun.  I was amazed at how much stuff we did in two days and I will admit that I was a little tired at the end of each session.  There were a lot of questions about other tools in the Festool lineup and Steve and Brian answered them all with ease and they were very willing to break out different tools and allow us to take them for a test drive.  Brian demonstrated the Domino for me with the small dominos on a couple of frames I made that had a very small area in which to mill the slot -- it worked out perfectly and this tool is high on my list of next purchases.

One of the things I enjoyed most was getting a chance to meet some other FOG members -- it is nice to put a face behind the Avatar and user name.

Thanks Shane, Brian, Steve, Minnie and Festool for putting on such an awesome class.  Your company and the people that represent Festool are all first rate and a pleasure to work with.  Thank you!!

Carroll sent over some photos from the class that he was having trouble uploading to the forum and asked that I add them for him. Glad to hear that everyone had a good time. We are fortunate to have two great trainers.  Here are the photos, in order, Brian Sedgeley, Carroll Adams, all class participants, Steve Bace.

Shane,

It seems like Brian is posing for advertising purposes so Peter will print his image on the FOGtainers?  Can you confirm or deny the "extra personalized" FOGtainers?  [big grin]

Ha! That's just my good ol' buddy, Brian being himself. Those of you who have met him know he's quite the character, has a lot of fun, and loves Festool (so much so that he named his dog Kapex).

Then all Brian needs is a second dog named CT that he connects with Kapex so they can make some Dominos. [ban]

Indeed, Brian did mention his dog Kapex several times. That is a fine name.

I was the one who asked Brian to stand in front of the Festool poster. Steve has several of those posters decorating to part of the Henderson training center with study tables and comfy chairs. I am standing in front of one of those, as is the whole class. There is another poster in the background of the Steve Bace photo.

Would Brian do such a thing?  Never.

Brian doing his MacGyver imitation.

MacGyver thinks a lot about Brian.  He was playing around with my computer and guess what.

When I saw this, I thought of Benjamin Franklin meets MacGyver meets Festool.

All in fun.  MacGyver also was on the path to be named Kapex.  That was axed by someone (wife) else.  Sedgely and Sedge were the next choices.  Can you tell I really respect this guy?  Oh well, MacGyver it is.

Peter

Love Ya Peter!  You're the best! [thumbs up]

Brian and Rick are probably out having a drink right now, looking at this on their phones .... You can think up the rest!  [jawdrop]

You forgot to put a couple of Festool steins in his hands.  And look, Brian got a hair transplant!
