Question...in the rules you say that you can do a written review OR a video review. I just want to confirm...you cannot do both written and video for the same tool/accessory and get entered into both contests? Just want to be clear.

Nick,

You're welcome to do both a written and video review, but not for the same product. That would be covered under this portion of the contest rules:

You may not submit a review for the contest of a product which you have already reviewed on the forum.

So, each review needs to be for a unique tool or accessory. Thanks.

So I guess this disqualifies the catalog review  [embarassed]

Yes, you gotta read that fine print. [tongue]

Hey it was fun to do it!

I'd like to see a small prize draw for the outside of the box (read non-qualifying) reviews.

Don't feal bad,  [big grin] it looks like the reviews of the Writex, the Kaffetasse, and the Thermoflasche were disqualified as well.

And this in spite of good arguments were made that they are all essential tools.  [tongue]

That would be a nice gesture, and my vote for the mosty creative of these would go to the reivew of the Writex.  I have shown it to several (non-woodworking) people and they all enjoyed it.

+25.4  (a Metric "+1"  ;D)

...to both Brice's idea for out-of-the-box and for the Writex review that kicked off a bunch of parody ideas.

i think these odd ball reviews should be included as tools. the mugs and thing like that are definitly tools.
the catologue is debatable but the ((anything that serves in the manner of a tool; a means: books are a scholar's toolsdefinition from dictionery)

Yeah, I meant the parody review to be included as outside of the box, I'm thinking a Kapex or even the OF2200.  You know something small so when Shane has to pay for it out of his own pocket it won't hurt too much. [tongue]

An M6 fastener?  [huh]

A single Domino tenon?  [blink]

An autographed Systainer label (tool of your choice)?  [huh]

Ha!  Thanks Frank and Brice.

I was at the Advanced Router class last week, and whilst out to dinner I mentioned to Shane that I had no expectation that my “Writex” review be counted for the prizes.  It was just inspired fun.
He gave me a (somewhat) baleful look and grin, and grunted “Yeah”.  Shane, you are a man of few words and infinite meaning!

Final call for reviews!

I know someone's sandbagging 30 videos to give Paul some competition...  [huh]

If my math is right, I have 1:14 odds of winning over Paul-Marcel.  I think I'd feel badly if my one so-so video won the award over his 13 amazing  videos.  Then again, when that Workcenter arrives, those feelings will disappear.

Guys, I'm blown away by the quantity and quality of these reviews!

The last minute submissions are great.

In my opinion, this is the type of content that makes this forum great. My sincere thanks to the participants for making the contest a success and for sharing their commentary on a wide array of tools and accessories. Brilliant work by all of you. Well done.  [thumbs up]

I look forward to select our winners tomorrow and handing out some prizes!

Edit: I've been updating my previous post with all of the reviews if you want a consolidated list.

Maybe an HB2 Linear Marking and Identification Tool?

I've seen a really good review on that tool, and the cost should be about in line...

[laughing]

Drum roll, please....

Again, I'd like to thank everyone who participated. To put yourself out there, especially the guys who did videos, in front of your peers can be intimidating. I think I speak on the behalf of all members (and those who lurk) that this generated a lot of great content for the site. We get a lot of traffic to the forum where people are searching for this type of information. You guys all did a superb job.

We had 35 written reviews and 23 video reviews, for a total of 58 total new reviews!

I want to congratulate our two randomly selected winners: VictorL and Aegwyn11 (Nick) who will receive their choice of an RO 90 or WCR 1000. Of course, we hope to see them produce great reviews of their prize winnings in the coming weeks.

That may leave you guys, and Paul Marcel, scratching your heads in disbelief. It looked like Paul was a run away winner in the video review category. Well, I want to reward Paul for producing more than a dozen reviews which generated a lot of discussion and interest, including the very comical stein review which I laughed at uncontrollably while watching. So, Paul is going to get rewarded for his efforts and hopefully we'll see more of his great video reviews.  [not worthy]

Lastly, it's a shame that everyone can't be a winner because we had several guys take their time to put together reviews that gave back to our online community. Well, actually, everyone can be a winner. Everyone else who submitted a review will get their choice of a T-Loc Systainer in a size of their choosing. It's just our way of saying thanks for the effort.

Congrats to all of our participants!

Hopefully we'll see even more participation with the next forum contest.  [wink]

Congratulations VictorL and Aegwyn11!  Enjoy your new tools.

Shane -- that is awesome that you are giving other contestants a new Systainer -- what a nice gesture!  I enjoyed writing the reviews I did and I know I personally benefit from reading and watching other's recommendations.  I too particularly enjoyed Paul's videos and I think that he set a new benchmark.  I am looking forward to watching the other video entrants this weekend too as I have not had time yet!

Thanks!!

Scot

My congratualtions to the three big winners, and to all my fellow consolation prize winners.  Awarding us with systainers is very generous of you and of Festool Shane.

I can't belive that Paul did not win the draw, but I am very happy that Festool decided to award him with a bigh prize.  Paul's contributions to this contest (yes even including the stein parody) have been quite valuable to me.

I have talked to my granddaughter Isla who makes jewellery and we have decided to opt for a systainer 3 which we will then fit out special compartments and trays in which to hold her jewellery making tools and some of the jewellery.

I loved the contest and look forward to the next one.
