Just finished this today. Needed a place to put my shies on besides the stairs. Made of Walnut with Wenge panels. Used dominos for the assembly. Finished with Target Coatings WB EM6000 Acrylic Lacquer.
Does anyone know how to polish this finish to bring out a little more shine?

Thanks,
Trevin

Nice bench!

What was the sheen on the lacquer?  Looks to be satin.  And how many coats did you apply?

If you have a Rotex, you might try paste wax and one of the buffing pads.

You might also try Festool's polishing compound - I have it from 5000 up to 11000 and it would definitely raise a shine.  I've used it over normal lacquer on several pieces that had damage from 20+ years of use and it's amazing.  Have not tried it over acrylic.  But you have the inside of the top to experiment with.

You'd have to be mindful of the inset panels with the round head, however.  But for the top and legs, I would definitely try it.  However, I'd want to know how much finish you put on before trying the compound.

The EM6000 was a semi-gloss. I put 3 coats on the inside and 6-7 coats on the outside. I used an HVLP for application. I will look into the Festool polish.

I just ordered the Festool polishes.  I will give them a shot next week.
