Essential OF1400 Accessories?

I have an OF1400 on the close horizon.  It's my first Festool router.  There's a myriad of accessories available.  I'd like to get the hole drilling kit and LR32 rail.... eventually.  But for now my wallet can only afford the router and a few fundamental accessories....(we always need to buy at least a few accessories with our new Festools, right?).  I plan on using it mostly for edge routing, mortising and dados.  I have 3 PC routers already but am drawn to the Festool line because of their dust extracting capabilities.  Please steer me in the right direction.  Much obliged!

I got the edge guide and the guide rail kit for my OF1400. That handles most of my needs. I also have the LR32 kit but it was a want, not a need for most applications.

You will want the following:

- edge guide

- guide stop with fine adjuster (Item # 492601)

- guide rail if you don't have one already and some clamps (Item # 492636)

- hard fiber base (Item # 492574) which helps register the router on smaller work pieces

-guide bushing adaptor (Item # 493566) if you plan to use router bushings
and clamps for your guide rails if you don't have any

That is what I have and would get if I made the purchase again

Hi,

  Yup. What he said.

And possibly an extra top mount dust hood 492 000 if you want to enlarge the opening for larger diameter bits.  Enlarging  OF1400 Dust Hood

I'm getting all the items dan and semenza recommended.  Fred,  I'm going to hold off on taking the MFS plunge for now but certainly have it on my future-wants list.  Thanks to all for taking the time to reply.

I concur with Dr. Dan, further, the hard fiber base happens to be the same thickness as the guide rail.  If you have to extend off the base when using the guide stop, your router will still be the same height so as not to get the "off the guide rail" lean.
