Good afternoon everyone.

I'll be taking delivery of an ETS-125 today, and I'm looking forward to using it this weekend.

But I'm disappointed at how difficult it has been to acquire Brilliant disks in the 10-packs.

I'm an amateur/hobbiest, so don't consume abrasives very fast.  So for my usage, the smaller packages are the most cost-effective option.

Unfortunately, there are only a few grits available in 10-packs.  And P220, which is what I've always used for the final sanding, is only sold in boxes of 100.

And to make matters worse, many dealers don't stock the 10-packs; so either I drive an hour or order online, with the additional shipping costs and wait for them to be delivered.

So forgive the whining.  But it sure would be nice if there better availability of Brilliant sandpaper in smaller quantities, and I wish P220  grit was one of the options.

There are several dealers that sell "broken" packs of sandpaper.  I have purchased a variety of sandpaper in small quantities from Bob Marino.  I hope some of the dealers will reply to say they are happy to fill your order.

You are right -- Festool sandpaper is very hard to get in quantities other than industrial use. Keep in mind that when you break down and order it online that it will almost always be drop shipped from Festool's warehouse, and that's NOT a rapid process. I've found that ordering parts at least a week ahead of time is a necessity. ...

I am curious, why does it need be shipped from Festool?

Not intending to be argumentative, but...  Festool sandpaper is NOT hard to get in any quantity you need, in my experience.

My woodworking friends and I have ordered supplies and accessories numerous times.  I cannot remember those products ever being drop shipped from the Festool warehouse.  Big tools, yes, sometimes.

Supplies and accessories typically arrive at my door within a couple of days.

It all depends on the dealer(s) you choose.

Thanks everybody.  If I can't find somebody that is selling "broken" boxes I'll just buy a big box and sell off what I don't think I'll need.

Fortunately, Festool included a couple P220 disks in the "variety pack" of abrasives that came with the sander, so my immediate needs are covered.

Thanks to all for your comments.

I'm astonished at how well the sander/vac combo works...  quiet, smooth and virtually dust-free.

Hello again David-

Out here in SoCal, ordinary UPS ground shipping from the Festool warehouse in Indiana takes 4 days business days.  Add a day or so on either end to process and unpack the merchandise, and that is a calender week or a little more.  Faster shipping is available, but at additional cost.

So it definitely pays to have a good feeling for what is likely to be available locally, and plan ahead for anything that needs to be ordered.

To me this is just the price we pay for using stuff that isn't mass-merchandised at the Borgs.
