Seems like I've mindlessly read about this topic a fair bit but my admittedly quick search didn't garner much.

I have some old nightstands that I intend to refurbish. I'd like to use Cubitron II mesh on my ets for much of the work.

Do I need an interface pad to save the velcro? And if yes, does Festool or a third party make a hard interface pad for this machine?

Cubitron tends to load up pretty quickly if you're removing old paint/finish. Abranet Ace or Granat mesh would be better.

I do always use an interface pad with any of these, although with Cubitron it's not as critical I think.

@luvmytoolz  - Thanks for that recommendation. I'll try the Abranet.

@bobskutter - I guess only the RO sanders use interface pads. I was sort of hoping I could find something similar to the thin pad for my RO150 but with a hard surface to create a hard pad that also saves wear and tear on the main pad.

The goal is to remove the current yellowed varnish and apply a black lacquer which afterwards will be burned through on just the edges. Satin poly goes over that to acheive a look I associate with old Chinese furniture.

Anyway, that's the reason I want to keep the pad harder rather than softer, so the edges stay sharp and the burned corners stay crisp and clean.

I've picked up some "protection pads" and an asorted box of Mirka sandpaper.

Thanks  to all!
