Anyone happen to have this happen? The pad split apart on my sander. My sander is only 4 months old (ETS150/5). So is the Pad. I don't use it everyday, and when I do it's not for a long time. Feedback welcome. Never had any pads on any sanders do this.

This is a known issue that occasionally happens.

Contact Festool, they'll probably provide you with a new one.

Thank you Alex, I will drop them a line. I didn't realize this has been an issue.

Does anyone know if this is caused by excessive pad heat or is it just poor adhesion?

The description for the pads lists "High-Temperature resistant for heavy duty applications."

Sorry you have a pad that fell apart. You said you don't use it every day but do you have a lot of hours on it? In any case call Festool.

I have had 3 or 4 pads do the same one without being used. With mine the foam is breaking up totally. I've been trying to prolong the life of them by sealing them from the air and moisture when not in use.

Maybe "issue" is too big a word, it is just something that is known to happen once in a while. Rarely.

I myself have about seven or eight 150mm pads, some 8 or 10 years old, and all of them are still perfectly fine. And then with somebody else, like you or the poster above, a brand new one just disintegrates for no apparent reason.
