Excessive dust from Kapex KS120 REB

I have a new KS120 REB and have watched endless videos on YouTube about the saw. I have it hooked up to a brand new CTM26E with a new bag and a 36mm hose. My question is why does my saw have a film of dust all over after short use, its on the floor, on the saw and ironically also all over the dust extractor. Why are all the ones shown on YouTube clean enough to eat your dinner off after use. Are these videos edited to clean and polish them before filming or are Festool mitre saws not as good at dust collection as they advertise themselves to be.

Check that the rubber shroud is not folded back. Also the shorter the 36mm hose the better.

Make a test cut with the extractor on and one without to see the difference in dust collection -- day and night. The Kapex is not a dustless equipment, so some dust is normal. No other brands can compare to its effectiveness though.

Ensure that when you cut you pull the saw out, drop down and then cut while pushing it back in. This results in the dust being sprayed directly into the rubber boot for collection.

If you cut while pulling out a lot of the dust is sprayed past the boot and is not collected.

I had the same issue...originally not impressed, but after getting some sound advice from the awesome forum members on here I cut my 36mm hose down to 3’ and the difference is huge.

Bought some extra hose ends and from the remaining piece of the 36mm hose I made another decent length hose...so from one 36mm hose I got two, a short one dedicated to the Kapex only and the longer one for the TS75 and OF1400.

After many years of excellent dust collection, my old Kapex started spraying dust everywhere. After going through the saw, I found a sliver of wood blocking the dust port. I’ve kept the sliver to remind me to check the dust port periodically.
