FastFix Depth Stop Chuck DD-DC Question

Yes, it accepts a small 1/4" bit so you can use it with torx, pozidrive, robertson, whatever.

The phillips head is a tapered V while the torx is square faced. Will this shape difference (between bits) cause a release problem when the bit separates from the screw?

The FastFix Depth Stop doesn't work in the same way that some depth stops do. The driving tip is spring loaded, so rather than the bit essentially camming out of the head of the screw when the depth is reached, the bit itself just stops spinning. So the head shape of the bit is somewhat irrelevant.

Just to be sure though, I've just put some TX20 woodscrews in to pine through plasterboard without a problem.

Garry,
Thanks for your insight, this chuck is my next accessory.

I think you'll like it. Just stare at the picto-gram instructions a few times to make sense of how it functions. Then try driving a screw into some drywall, and then, remove that same screw by using the outer ring to allow the reverse action of your drill to engage the chuck.  I think the ring action for screw reversal or backing a screw out is the trick part about this chuck for me.  Works well, and one more chuck in your drill assortment to be armed with.  [big grin]

I used mine recently to screw down subfloor with Robertson screws and it worked great other than the Robertson bit would get stuck on the screw head and come out of the chuck. I don't think this would be a problem with torx screws.

That's the thing I hate about 1" Robertson bits Saskataper, they always get stuck in the screw head and fall out of your drill bit holder or multi-bit screwdriver.
