My router table is pretty good and it has a designed storage place for it and the thickness planer. Adding it to the table saw would take up more space. But thanks for the suggestion.
Moving on to padding the rails, that is an EXCELLENT suggestion. That should go a long way to protecting the cars and other equipment. I'll be implementing that immediately!
This evening, I rethought the idea of cutting off the rails. While looking at the saw without the fence and with the blade totally withdrawn, I realized that it was a nice TS55 cutting table for breaking down ply. If necessary, a couple of side stands could be added for some cuts.
