Fein Multimaster QSL Festool plug it and new plunge base

Glad I read this thread.  I have the new kit on order and didn't know about the blade length.
Good thing I didn't purchase a bunch of Fein blades already... :D

Another cool accessory that fits the new Fein MM is the bench mount.  It's actually made by Fein and tougher to find.  I think I ordered it from Germany or UK last year.  As I was writing this I searched and found that Beaver Industrial has it - part 92602083010 'Fein Table & Drill Stand'.  I haven't used it a lot, but it's really good for smaller/detailed work.

So after a bit more reading about things, am I correct in thinking the new 18v vecturo is basically a fein supercut but different colour? Or is there any differences in performance?

Would this then mean that all of the Vecturo attachments are compatible with supercut?

They are more or less the same machine but, the Vecturo is a slightly different shape, and different battery type.
IIRC the power and performance and anti vibe are identical, and either of these machines will not disappoint.
The Vecturo 18v plunge base accessory kit fits the 18v Supercut perfectly, I did a post when I bought the accessory kit for my Supercut. See here:https://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?pretty;board=other-tool-reviews;topic=fein-18-volt-supercut-(afsc18q-(sl).0
I went with the Supercut, simply because I have a fair few batteries from my previous Fein machines.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. That’s great news the Vecturo accessories are compatible, one thing that is very much lacking from Fein IMO, and Festool’s being the masters at this makes for a great combo!

[member=72535]Warg[/member] No problem, you’re welcome.
By the way, I checked earlier, and the power from both machines are the same.
They really are the most powerful cordless multi tools out there, although I still haven’t had a chance to trial the Bosch machine.
The Vecturo and Supercut, really are the equivalent power to the mains versions, and now the anti vibe has been sorted, they are a pleasure to use.

One Plus from the SuperCut that made me buy it, was the advantage of the Fein „Multivolt“ platform.
It can use all Fein batteries from 12V to 18V.
I purchased a single 12V 2ah. It is charged by the same charger that comes with the unit but allows you to have a fairly light tool in hand for the awkward cuts overhead or in tight spaces.

Love the SuperCut!

[member=69479]Jiggy Joiner[/member]  I’ve still not had the chance to get out and see the Vecturo under the obvious circumstances just now but most likely just go for a supercut as I have a few Fein batteries already.

That’s new to me that the supercut can also use the 12v batteries, another additional welcome feature! Thanks for letting me know, appreciate it.

Yes, makes sense to make use of any existing batteries you have, and all said and done, Fein have always lead the field with multi tools, even the Vecturo is made by Fein.
Yes sorry, I had forgotten the bonus of being able to use multi voltage batteries. Definitely a win, win.  [thumbs up]

I too apologize for reopening this thread. As newbie to the forum and with a new FMM350QSL I would like to confirm the right choice for my new FMM350QSL is the Festool 203258. The bit about blade length has me trying to understand if it is the right move. I really need a plunge base. The alternative it to make one.

Thanks in advance. The information in this forum is much better than asking the manufacturers or retailers directly!

Yup, that's the full kit that works with the Fein 350QSL. Apologies that you had to wait so long for a response.

Can anyone tell me if the Festool plunge attachment will fit in a sys 1 systainer?    I can see with the base and tall rods it likely would not but maybe you can unscrew the rods from the base ?

I just got the Fein systainer (Sys 1) and wondered if it would fit.    My FMM350QS kit already came in a matching systainer as part of their special edition.

[member=11933]ScoFF[/member] - Sorry to say that it will absolutely not fit inside a SYS1. I've been meaning to pick up some systainers to fit new tools/accessories and one taller than a SYS1 is on my list to accommodate the plunge base (and likely WP's Auto-Line Drill Guide which also doesn't fit in a SYS1).

Ok thanks.  So it doesn't disassemble at all ?

Nope.

Thanks for checking, it would have driven me crazy.  Do you think it would fit in a SYS 2?  They had some Fein SYS 2’s but they were sold out.  I might keep looking for not if I know it won’t fit.

Definitely, with plenty of room to spare, assuming no EPS foam insert, etc. You can find the rough inside dimensions of all systainer by finding the list on Tanos's site. I say "rough" because not accounted for are any ribs or other protrusions. You'd think a manufacturer would provide this kind of info as a matter of course, but....

Fein Sys 2 T-Locs are still available in the UK ....

I’m having a hard time with finding blades that will fit the 350qsl and Festool adapter with the plunge base.  My Fein 350mm is a Starlock Plus so it will take starlock plus and regular star lock.  Not starlock max with the small horizontal slot hole.
I bought 78mm long blades from Festool (Item 203336) but returned them because they were for starlock max.
Then I bought these because they were the only other 78mm long blades but found out they are for Supercut style.  They won’t fit on my starlock plus. They’re for the Festool OS400.

What do you recommend?

[member=11933]ScoFF[/member] - First, you need an adaptor, the one that allows the use of old, non-proprietary blade attachment-types on a Starlock head. Check ebay/Amazon, etc. The source I used for my adapter closed up shop about six months ago (an online retailer located in Norway) otherwise I'd point you in their direction. Last I recall there was a Russian source on eBay but these things change so fast your best bet is just a web search.

2nd, once you have the adapter fitted, you can use any "old" style blade. I buy the various extra long blade versions sold here:
https://www.ezarctools.com/collections/oscillating-multi-tool-blades

Here's the source that stopped selling the adapter:
https://www.oslotoolcompany.com/password

And here's what the adapter they sold looks like:

[attachimg=1]

Comparing theirs (the one I have) to the current versions readily available I would caution you against the current versions which rely only on a bolt with a flange to fix the blade to the adapter. In contrast, the style I have (that Oslo Tool Company sold) relies on a large diameter disc with a counter sunk hole (for the bolt) to sandwich the blade between it and the adapter. This provides a large surface area, much larger then the flanged bolt that the latest comparable style relies on. Maybe the disc is overkill. But if you can find the style (which is also magnetic BTW) that relies on the large diameter disc then I'd recommend that since it's the style I have and is the one I have personal experience with (and can wholeheartedly recommend).

Here's what appears to be a non-chrome plated version (likely non-magnetic too) of the one I have:
https://www.griffbereit24.de/produc...sst-nicht-fuer-bosch-gop12v-g?variantid=18120

Don't be confused by the product images - they've got the bolt inserted in the wrong end of the disc in the image. In practice it is installed on the opposite face (the face without the "teeth").
