i also got the quick action clamp that fits under the guide rail its also pretty useful but having the new guide rail makes such a difference like i said not a really important post but after having a crap day i thought i would unwind knowing that some of my new purchases will make my life easier

Those quick action clamps are super cool.  I even drilled loads of holes  in my new bench to accommodate them  [big grin]  They are pricey though, 50GBP for 2 is a bit steep, but hey, i have them now.

Anything that makes life easier is a good thing in my book. And remember, tomorrow is a new day and it's sure to bring better and rewarding things.

thanks for that brice tomorow will be ok just today seemed so short as always not enough hours in the day.
woodguy id like to know where you got both clamps for 50 i got mine for 31 gbp each

I've got those clamps - I use them on some sort of dedicated rail that festool sold me as a clamp.  OK but not hugely powerful like a pipe clamp or something.  I think I've gotten sloppy - I have never clamped my 3m rail and rarely clamp the 1400, but then I'm only really cutting MDF and ply.

As a related question, how good are the rail connectors as a long term/permanent solution in equaling the accuracy of a single longer rail? Once the new LR 32 1400mm rail is available I intend to use it as my go-to crosscut rail as well, permanently joining my two existing regular 1400mm rails together for longer rip cuts once and for all. I'm just wondering if I'll have to constantly keep my eye on them shifting out of alignment over time.

The rail connectors hold fine.  What each user needs to determine based on their usage is whether or not they want to break down assembled rails when their usage really only needs a short rail and vice versa.  For me, I'd rather not have to bother with joining and unjoining.  That is just me.

For the person who has to transport the rails, pay attention to the max length you can transport and that might be the deciding and limiting factor.

Just my thoughts.

I just want enough rails to be able to make one continuous cut, the length of a basket ball court. [big grin]

These are good for trimming doors while still fitted. Ive had mine for a year or more dont use them all the time but they do come in handy.

My 3m rail stays in the workshop.  I have 3 brackets screwed to the ceiling above my bench & when i  need to rip a sheet i just hop onto the bench & take it down.  Nice & safe up there.  Just ordered new clear splintergard for all my other rails today.

way ahead of you woodguy tomorow i have a few hours to kill before a job so im cleaning all my festools and replacing all my splinterguards kind of sad that im excited isnt it
