Hi, I'm about to buy a festool 850 EB could someone tell me what is different from E version?

Thank you!
George

The "E" stands for Electronic, and the "B" stands for Brake.

"Brake (HL 850 EB)
After switching-off, the tool is electronically
brought to a standstill in 1.5 – 2 seconds."

So I'm buying this in US, the unit is posted as EB, do you think there is a chance this would not work here? Thank you guys for the quick answer, i'm supposed to meet the seller this morning.

It will be fine. It just has the electronic brake. The 850 EB is sold in the US so there should be no problem.

In the UK, almost all Festool 110V tools are missing the brake. I think it is only the OF 2200 EB in 110V that actually has one. There are threads on here if you search for "110V" and "brake".

It was a few years ago in New York. I'm taking a photo of Concorde IIRC and my wife took the photo of me!

'Sorry, Peter!

I feel duly chastised. But it was a little fun while it lasted...

Peter, i spent half an hour trying to plane a walnut board without much success. The 850 can remove a lot of wood, maybe a bit too much - i had it at around 0.3mm setting and after a few passes it would carve too much wood. Even at 0.1mm it seems to me it carved too much and I coild not make it even on the width of the board.

It felt it would be perfect on a 3-4" wide board, anything widwr, especially a 10-12" was a struggle for me. I'm sure there is some technique to make it work. Can you share your thoughts?

Thanks
g
