Festool Connector Question

Quick question for all of you.

My girlfriend wants me to build her a pantry cabinet, and I'm thinking of building it in a top and bottom section for "portability."  I can't see any reason why not, but is there any reason the Festool Connectors would NOT work to connect the top section to the bottom section?  IE if you were putting them into the 3/4" end of two pieces of plywood, and effectively making one longer one, is there any reason this would not work?

I've done it not for cabinets, but they do work for end to end butt joints of 3/4" plywood.  Make sure you have actual dominos for the strength and alignment.  The connectors will just be there to assist gravity keeping the whole thing together.

It will definitely work, but might be a bit of overkill. A few dominos on each side will keep the parts aligned, and a couple of screws going upward from the inside of the lower section, will hold it together.
The domino connectors need a pretty big hole to access the set screw.

Hadn't really thought about that...glue the domino in one side, leave the other just friction fit?  I think that'd do it...

Then again, I really was looking for a reason to buy the Connector kit... ;)

If you glue it in it will be harder to disassemble and transport without damage when moving.

I’ve done that with dowels.  A couple of years later the dowels had absorbed enough moisture to swell the dowels.  I got it apart, but with the aid of a rubber mallet.

I don’t use dominoes, so maybe they don’t expand with moisture.

Vote here for the connector kit. They work super well. Pretty awesome little system.
