Have a few Festools, why is it that the cords from the sander, domino and carvex don't fit the old ts55?  What am I missing.  Thanks

Mike

Mike, you will find many threads on the forum about this topic.

Plug-it cords come in two gauges. One of them is keyed to make sure you don't use an underrated cord with a tool that has higher power requirements.

Basically, one is a thinner, lighter gauge cord for tools with smaller motors. The other is a heavier gauge for tools with bigger motors and power requirements.

The heavier gauge cord, which is not keyed, can be used on all tools.

Shane yes I found it.  Anyway why mot make all the same gauge wire, one cord fits all.  For the few cents extra for a standard cord, save me aggravation go going to a job and not have the correct cord.  Take care.

The lower gauge cord is more flexible, which is better when sanding, for instance.

Ooooh!  Excellent answer Shane.  Silly business minded me thought it was all about the company savings oodles of money by having one slightly cheaper to manufacture per unit over the other.  Silly me, now I know that Festool is not in it for the money!  [embarassed]

Ducking and running..... [scared]

[big grin]
