My festool duo light died after only 4 months anyone else had this problem. It was working i came back indoors where the light was on and it was dead, i've contacted festool with the return form what a hassle. I will see what they do next . Well within warranty 50,000 hours more like 200 rubbish...

The more I hear/read about Festool problems, the more I want to sell it and never touch it again !!!

Let's not go all "the sky is falling", eh. One isolated issue doesn't constitute mass hysteria.  [poke]

Ok, so someone didn't like my previous analogy that even very expensive things, like exotic cars, have failures.

So... Let me try this.

Anyone who's worked in the service industry or every partaken of a service knows that someone is WAY more likely to complain than to say "great job!". I think the same is true here. No one is going to post every few months that all of their tools are working perfectly and have been for years. You're going to get people posting about their tool failing because they are frustrated, are looking for assistance in resolving the issue, etc.

As a percentage, I suspect globally or even just in the U.S. that we talking very small fractions of a percent.

Based on some of the recent threads, I was anticipating the ensuing dog pile.  [smile]

You mean recent unresolved events? Still haven't heard a thing about our Kapex motor issues and now it's time to get all snarky about people with legitimate complaints? That's cute.

My Festools, Dewalts, Millwaulkees, Deltas, Hitachis, Porter Cables, Rigids ..... all still running today.

Ferrari's in the shop again - go figure, thank goodness the Veyron is still going strong or I don't know how I'd get to work.

Just go right up to the service manager and yell, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!" That'll get 'em on their horse.

It is almost certain that some of the internal bits are made  in China. Festool tries to ensure that they get quality components,  but mass produced electronics are going to have bad lots occasionally.  I have had Cree brand LED light bulbs  burn out in a few hundred hrs when they are supposed to last thousands.

Hi
It was not intended as 'snarky' or 'cute'. If it came across as such then I apologise.
