To be more accurate as an edge sander, I think it also needs some sort of depth-adjustable parallel fence fitted ('a la their Router range), otherwise it's likely to produce a wavy/waney edge with a perfect 90 degree bisecting angle with injudicious use.
A standard, old-school orbital sander carefully held at a perpendicular incidence angle will gently help to maintain edge straightness. Rotary sanders are often too aggressive to do so unless used with the finest grits.

Looks like the edge sander may be available early, Macbeth hardwoods in California posted that they had 20 in for sale. Anyone see them at there local retailer yet?
