Hello,

I had a visit to my workshop this morning from our local Festool demonstrators and had a play with a new edgebander which will be available in the UK soon. It's a real fancy looking bit of kit with digital display and a new approach to the hot melt glue system. The machine can be used as a mobile unit or fitted into a table to be used as a stand alone machine. The results were exellent, good glue application with no voids or loose bits of edging. I don't want to take the blame for anyone having sudden heart problems so I won't tell you the expected price!!!!!!! But who care's, it's a festool so it must be worth it.!!!

Jonathan.

Thanks for that, That's the machine. It looks a real heavy monster but the weight balance is perfect. I can also mention that a multi-tool is on it's way as well.

I am going to take a wild guess and say it sells for around $5300. It sure would be handy for reworking finished material onsite.

Interesting.  I have held off purchasing similar machines hoping Festool would introduce something like it.  Hopefully, it will be available in NA by the time I have my next kitchen project.

Taken from Tim's link:

Festool offers a complete system for producing the "perfect edge": the new CONTURO KA 65 with system accessories together with the new Basic MFK 700 edge router, new stationary unit for small workpieces and mitre cuts and the VAC-SYS vacuum clamping system for reliable work without leaving scratches. Festool also offers matching accessories such as EVA adhesive, a trimming machine, edging holder, patented scraper, additional roller and much more.

From this i understand there will be a set version with trim router and vac clamp sys?

Hmm, I don't think that's what that means. I doubt that they will be packaged together as a 'set' (I would imagine the potential sales of such a set would be limited, and therefore not economically viable); rather that Festool offers the individual products which together work as a 'system'.

That's my take on it, anyway. [2cents]

Holy cow, this thing looks like alien technology.  I'd really like to see it in the flesh.  What is the expected price Jonathan, sounds like you know but arn't telling? [cool]

The price for the machine is around £1900.00

Why would you need dust collection for this????  I see it in the picture for it.

Presumably just to take the fumes away. The glue used for edgebanding is quite stinky, and can burn your eyes and/or throat if you're not careful. Of course, the Festool glue might be different...

By todays exchange rate it will cost roughly $3200 + tax. If ya get te full pkg @ 4000 quid it means it will run approx $6700+ tax.

Looks like a great bit of kit, but that is a lot of shekels for a guy like me.

It looks like the Contura will do to edge banding what the Domino has done to jointing. Currently the very best designed and engineered tools that I have ever used are the OF2200 and the Domino DF700 - this new machine looks so nifty that it could make it a gang of 3 brilliant machines.

Although it looks pricey I have no doubt that it will sell itself in terms of productivity, low maintenance and reliability.
