Festool ETS EC 150/3 - Video

Hi there,

I received my 150/3 on Friday after seeing Peter's excellent video.  I have used it briefly over the weekend and am very impressed with it thus far.  The low profile/low weight is fantastic in comparison to the Metabo I had previously. It's exceptionally well balanced.  The quick stop did take a while to get used to - I was standing like a lemon more than once waiting for the sander to come to a stop so I could switch grits! I think it's going to be a great partner for my RO90 :)

Does anybody know if and when there will be a North American introduction of the ETS EC 150/3?

Jack

So if I've already got a Rotex RO150, is there any point in adding this new sander to my collection?

The Rotex is a big heavy two handed sander as where the EC 150 is a palm sander which is very very light and perfect for final preparation, if you do a lot of final preparation then yes you need one.

First, [welcome] to the FOG!

I have both the RO150 and the current ETS 150/3. It is a VERY different sander from the Rotex.

From everything I've read, the ETS EC is a lighter weight, very nimble finishing sander that would most closely be a match to (or replacement for) the present ETS 150/3 - although there is no indication that Festool intends to discontinue the ETS 150/3, btw.

The ETS EC 150/3 is also nearly double the price of the ETS 150/3.

Edit: I just did some research and the actual price appears to be about 25% higher, not double like I thought. Sorry about the misinformation.

My old ETS 125 drowned so I decided to replace it with the new EC 150 because it has the same weight as the ETS 125 but has the advantage of the larger surface area, your right, if you already have a ETS 150 then apart from the lighter weight it would be foolish to replace it for the sake of replacing it.

Will there be an ETS EC 125, that's no heavier than a rubber sanding block?
