Festool extended warranty program.

Reading about the problem people have had with Kapex motors burning up, I was cotemplating the wisdonn of Festool (or a dealer) offering offering an extended warranty - like for up to 5 years total. Not sure wht it would cost, but if/when I purchase a Kapex I'd sure consider it!

What do you guys think of the idea?

That is an interesting idea. It would give some insight as to the projected life span of the motor.

Based on the service I just received for my domino, if Festool offered an optional extended warranty, I'd buy it for every festool I own (now and future).

If their warranty costs are as low as I believe they are, they really should consider offering an 'industry leading' warranty with their 'industry leading' tools. Something like 5 years. Then on top of that I'd like to see them offer an extended warranty that could be purchased to cover another 2-3 years.

If they wanted to really do it right, they would offer it on any tool that is still under warranty as of the time the extended warranty was purchased. They could even allow dealers to sell the extended warranty, offering another revenue stream. And as NiteWalkerGR said, I bet there would be a LOT of owners who'd opt for it just for the peace of mind AND the fact that they could budget their repair costs and deduct them up front for tax purposes.

Damn - this could be huge. I think they owe me for my brilliant idea, don't you?! I'd accept a HUGE credit to be used for future purchases. Or they could just offer me a Marketing Manager job.
