Hello everybody

Could anybody please explain what the difference is between Festool Stoppers, part numbers 488062 & 492095. I would like to purchase one of these to go with my MFT/3 & MFT/3-VL, but cannot clearly see what the difference is.

On the Festool site it states part number 448062 is suitable for the MFT/3-VL

http://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Accessories/Pages/Detail.aspx?pid=488062&name=Stops-CS-70-LA

On a popular Festool suppliers website in the UK, it states 492095 is suitable for the MFT

http://www.axminster.co.uk/festool-rip-fence-for-festool-compact-modular-system-prod823088/

I would have assumed both of them would be used for going across the table. Have I got it awfully wrong and one of them is for going down the length of the MFT table?  ???

Hi.
Stated on the webpages you quoted:
The 492095 is for the CMS, MFT, and, the CS50.
The 488062 is for the CS70, MFT/3-VL.

As the table dimensions of the CS70, and, the CS50 are different, I'm guessing the difference is in the length.

Maybe a quick call to Festool UK would help clarify?

Richard.

Hello all

Thank you fuzzy logic & Frank-Jan  ;)

I did speak to Festool UK today and they have confirmed it is part number 488062 which fits the MFT/3 & MFT/3-VL. It is as Frank-Jan stated, the longer one of the two.

I'm really glad you asked this question - I hadn't considered it and was blindly assuming the MFT/3-VL and the stand alone CMS were the same depth (I only have the MFT/3-VL at present and was assuming all things interchangeable if I also grabbed a CMS and wanted to "mix and match").

Makes me wish there was a four legged MFT/3-VL option ?? anyone clubbed one together?

If this fence is the ONLY not interchangeable accessory I suppose that's not too bad. Interesting that the MFT/3-VL adds a little more worktop to play with.

[unsure]  [blink] [huh]

Kev.

Frank-Jan:  Thanks very much.

FWIW, the information given in Axminster 2012/2013 catalogue also wrong - page222.
(Though it does show the sliding table (492100) for MFT/3-VL correctly.)

Think it would have helped if Festool catalogue (page 94) had shown these items - just to ensure no misunderstanding.
It can be quite confusing - at least until one gets product familiarity.

Richard

Oh, this is actually interresting - so you say that the CS70 fence will fit the MFT/3 as well to actually provide a rather nice table saw side table for the VL-module?

Hmmm.... gets me thinking if a VL would after all be in my furture since I have three CMS modules and one GE stand... Thinking of TS55 in VL permanently would make it able to handle wider panels without the need to purchase the expensive (and yet another loose part of a) side extension to the CMS-GE and then I could more or less keep the router in the GE-module permanently. Then I'm just left with swapping the PS module in one or the other as need be (probably the VL since the router fence is screwed in)...

Does the VL register entirely parallel to the MFT it attaches to i.e. will the fence be parallel to the saw blade even when it's moved to the MFT/3's rails?

I've been toying with the idea of a VL at each end of an MFT/3 and moving the setup into a centre space, instead of against the wall ... the answer to this could be a clincher!  [big grin]

Hello Reiska

The MFT/3-VL does line up perfectly parallel to the MFT/3 and to aid this I use two guide rail connectors in the lower profile on the side of the MFT/3 and MFT/3-vl.

http://www.festool.co.uk/Products/Accessories/Pages/Detail.aspx?pid=482107&name=Accessories-for-guide-rails-FSV

I am assuming that the adjustments available on the fence (488062) will allow me to fine tune it to be accurate to the saw blade, no matter if its on the MFT/3-VL or the MFT/3.
