Hi,

I nominate Eli . He will be providing beer. BBQ, Festool door prizes, round trip tickets, and paid vacation time. ;D

Actually this is a pretty cool idea!
Seth

You would think it's a cool idea, what are you bringing besides a smile!

I'd ask Anthony to host if you guys were making the trip all the way down here, but we'd do the barby out at my place in the hills. Bring your winter jackets topsiders!

Still waiting for my complimentary airfare from Festool Australia.  I just don't understand... I have been camped out by the mailbox for months and nothing has shown up.  As soon as I get them though it's on!  ;D  And I'll bring all the corn you can eat.  There's plenty of it around here!  And every Festool NAIAustralia.  ???

pshaaaaaw! yer dreamin again. What have we received over here? T-shirts? Think not. Yeah, we have a few model numbers you guys don't have, but they're twice the price ! Find your own travel agent and book it yerself. I had to move a three YO znd a 1 YO and my wife and all our shiznit over here to get my hands on the good tools, don't expect to have to do less. Not that I'm the official voice or anything. Y'all come soon now hear? The bonus is there's plenty of wine country touring near us, so if your wife's a bit of a lush it should be an easy sell.

I don't know how far people will travel for such an event.
It looks like it is less than 2 hours from the Hartford area. I'd certainly be interested.

Charles - great. Tinker is not that far...the group alrady here are lurkers but still good to attend.

Beautiful, Wonderful, Easy Livin', ....

Lincoln, NE

I'm not sure those of us from Buffalo country (CO) are allowed in Husker nation so close to football season.

Steve, the first game for the Huskers is not till the next Saturday, 8-30, so I am sure that the mood would be amicable.  I have not asked Bo if it is alright to have Buff Fans in here so close to the start, but we just won't tell him....  You are welcome here anytime dude!

... We would love to host the "Inaugural Midwest Regional Festool Fest ..... How does August 23rd, 2008 sound?

I'm taking my wife to Las Vegas on August 23 to celebrate her birthday. There's still time to change our plans.

I'll ask her if she wouldn't rather celebrate at a Festool Fest. Sounds like a lot more fun to me.  ;)

John

I organize a gathering of local woodworkers once a year in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.  We have lunch before The Woodworking Show opens on a Friday and then go to the show.  We also have a second group that meets for breakfast on the Saturday morning before the Show.  Anyone that would like to be included on the email list for those gatherings can send me a PM.

I'll set up the tables, and my kids can do some Show Tunes; while we are at it, I do a mean Elvis impersonation as well.

Good to know, Timmy, that could help to sell her on the idea. But right now I'd say my chances are about zero.

Unless of course, you'd be willing to put on a flashy dress and do an impersonation of Cher.  :)

John

I'd happily volunteer to host such an event. You'll all have to pay your own airfares, but I could collect you from Manchester airport for a small fee... ;D ;D ;D

Charles, I am in Springfield, MA (about 30 miles away) and would love to attend), Matthew is in Northampton (about 20 miles north of me, but way off in left field [Northampton that is]). I would like to host one early next year (my barn shop is 90% complete and stubbornly resisting any further movement!).

John,

Keep me posted.

A barn, you say. Sounds like you have a reasonable amount of space to work in. I would love to see it.

Charles

Hi Guys!!

Anyone in the Concord, NH area? I know it's always snowing here but it can be nice too.
I have a small shop and work professionally in the trade, using Festool of course!
It would be a great pleasure to meet with anyone in the area and have a discussion about
woodworking/Festool/whatever comes up!

Thanks

Dave

Can I suggest that each person who is willing to host an event start a new thread entitled "Festool Fest - " and then your location?  That way we can break this into logical regional conversations and start building some momentum to organizing the event and selecting a date convenient to everyone who wants to attend.  Once these have been organized, I will be sure to publicize them in the upcoming SysNotes email newsletter this month.

I do have friends that are Crop Dusters....perhaps they could do a couple of Fly-By's

Timmy C

That's just not play'n fair.... how can we compete with crop dusters?  ;) ;) ;D

Scott W.

Dust?  What's that?

I own a 2500 sq ft work shop that's wide open and has a wood shop in about 15% of the space, plus we can make all the saw dust we want. I do it all the time ;D The separate show room is 1300 sq ft. We could display finished projects in there. My lot is 12000 sq ft if we need some outside space plus there's a big dirt lot behind my shop I should be able to arrange for parking. Let me know ;D Needless to say, I'd be happy to provide a location if it's big enough.

For those who do not know... Bill is in the Tuscon, AZ area.  Any other Festool guys in that area who would like to get together?

Festool Junkie would like to present to the FOG a firm date for the Inaugural Midwest Regional Festool Fest.  I had originally posted a date of August 23rd; perhaps this date was a bit pre-mature.  I have been in contact with many of our Reps for Lincoln Hardwood and Tool Company, www.LHTCinc.com (site to go live on July 1st), and have gotten some great responses, and firm commitments from several of our Reps.  Including but not limited to Festool Trainers and Reps, Jet/Powermatic, and SawHelper.

We always break out the Grills, Music, Demonstrations (Festool, Turning, ScrollSaw etc.) and have some great specials as well.

We are planning on August 30th, 2008 for the Festool Fest / LHTCinc Tool Show.  There is a home Husker game that day so the town will be full of energy and we always have a hoot!

Timmy

;) Actually, I didn't want the Midwest Regional Festool Fest to cause conflict for John  ;D

Hi Bill I would be interested if it fit my schedule or I can work my schedule around it.
