Am I the only one who feels insulted that Festool are charging $28 (cdn) for a single guide rail connector? I've been considering a Kapex (despite the horrendous CDN pricing) and drill, but honestly stuff like this makes me less inclined to purchase future products. Do we not pay enough of a premium on the tools themselves?

$56 for two little bars with 4 holes drilled in them..  [blink]

I suggest you get the makita ones, these seem to work better (at least for me).

I'd be less concerned about the price of accessories then the durability of a 110/120v kapex.

Pricing of accessories and tools has been discussed many times here.  You might want to search prior posts for wealth of opinions. The current quality post may be of interest too.

I to use Makita connectors. They're 2 piece units as opposed to Festool one piece units. The Festool connectors can ding up your guide rail. Also not cheap.

I think I paid $18 each for the Festool connectors when I bought my
TSC55 and rails earlier this year.

It didn't take me long to want something more (about 10 minutes).
The Makita connectors are not any cheaper, but I believe they work
better in that they won't damage the rails and I don't regret buying them.

Thanks for the heads up guys. The makita ones do seem a better option.

At the moment it's looking like a 70% chance I'll grab something else and wait for the next revision. $2150 after tax for the Kapex here in Canada. I know there are also plenty of satisfied users, but personally I'm not keen on paying that much for a unit with as many dissatisfied owners. Hopefully a revision is on its way!

It's a big change, but going to Mafell or Bosch for both tracks and saw is my recommendation.  The track connectors are a dream to use and are self aligning.  I used TS55 and TS75 for a few years, but eventually bit the bullet, sold that gear, and started drinking the red Kool-aide for saws (but keep drinking the green Kool-aide for routers).

I'm glad a miter saw isn't part of my workflow.
Kapex is the only slider (or "glider" in Bosch's case)
I've handled that I'd consider purchasing, personally.
I'm not saying it's mind blowingly good.  I'm just saying
it's the only one that doesn't inherently deflect all crazy sauce.

A $99 Miter saw will probably be way more rigid and dead nuts
than the sub-million dollar slider.

I'm exaggerating here, but worth considering, nonetheless.
