If you havent heard we unveiled Steve Adams aka QWAS's Vac Dogs and Manifold which along with some accessories and a vacuum pump make up a vacuum clamping system used in conjunction with your MFT.

Charles Wilson is tirelessly editing tape and photos of my demo of the Vac Dogs, but in the mean time I would like to open a discussion about them and I will see if I can answer any questions and Im sure Steve will chime in. Ive already got ideas for a vertical nesting jig, to do dominoes in cab sides, more on that later, Thanks Eric

Hey guys, sounds like it was a blast and I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Sean you were missed Peter did a awesome job beings there for the Nut. Hope the sailing went great

Sal

Sean, give Peter the rest of the day off so he can post pics? Also tell him to change the heading to something like Festool House Party - Updated Pics, so people know its not just us clowning around, Eric

Eric, thanks for great party. It was pleasure to meet FOG pals in person.
Systainer organization stand was very impressive. I've tried to get some pictures, but surprisingly only few were with acceptable quality.
Bow clamps are impressive.  Festool reps are very helpful.

Looks like it was a great time for all!

Seeing Craig's pictures reminded me -- we are making some BowClamp ends for Craig to try out but somehow the shop thought they were to make only one (1) prototype & so they only made one (1) prototype  -- not a very useful trial for Craig or anybody else.  [big grin]  [big grin]  [big grin]  [big grin]

Ron, we would love if Seneca Woodworking could launch one of your new products at the 2013 event or maybe you could make the trip and demo it yourself, bc we are an original colony? [poke] Eric

I look forward to seeing the pics and your reveal of the vac dogs demo. The idea is really great and qwas did a great job utilizing the "dogs" that are actually tapered to go into the 20mm mft holes from the bottom. I could see using something like this although I'm not interested in sealing my mft top and never cutting into it, so I would probably build a small box that sits on the mft so that I could easily rout above my mft without any clamps in my way!  I'll be keeping my eyes open to the info once qwas starts to release it!

Bob

First of all Bob you have enough MFTs to not cut on one, lets get serious? Steve designed the Vac Dogs with a taper as you mentioned and they will fit 13/16" or 20mm. I am already looking into getting a 13/16" forstner bit and making a right angle jig with some triangles for support all screwed an glued with the 13/16" holes on the vertical piece. I am going to use quick clamps and secure the jig to the to outermost side of the table so that material can be nested vertically against the surface and with a little help be sucked to to the jig. It will be a huge test for the Vac Dogs, bc there will be a lot of weight on it instead of just being on top of the table. Not sure if it will work and maybe im just a dreamer, but would be great for dominoing cab sides vertically?

The first video of the Festool rep demoing the Domino XL has been edited and will be available shortly. The real pros, Bob and I will be up last so stay tuned....Eric

I bet that statement will make those Festool reps feel glad to have attended.  [poke]

Rock on Eric!

Peter

Peter, those guys are my friends and they are the best, but tools are a job to them, for Bob and I, its our passion. Thanks for all your support, Eric

Eric, I am thinking that a box can be placed on top of MFT with a few holes.  That could elimiate the concern such as Bob has mentioned.  Some of us have only one MFT table to work on. I have two, one 1080 that is pretty well scored in all directions.  The second, an MFT/3 is still clean and with use of MDF strips, I am, so far keeping it clean of kerf tracks.  I will be watching for your experiments as well as Quas.
Tinker

Bob, you're too talented to not be a pro. Wayne you could do that with 13/16" holes. Im gonna look to see who sells those forstner bits? Eric
