I got my CT26 Warranty paper yesterday as my dealer registers all my tools for me. Well I noticed a new section on the warranty paper! We did not have this on our older ones and it only applies with tools bought after the 01.01.2011 well gutted as the CT26 is my only tool and all the rest are before  [mad]

Here is a picture of the new Warrenty!

EDITED:

My Favourite new extras to the warranty are 48 hours repair!  When I had my drill repaired it took a week!  The stolen for new! I have about 6000 or more worth of festool stuff I can get all that for about 1400 if it was all stolen!  Unfortunately the only tool I could get is the CT26 as thats the only one I bought after 01.01.11.  The 30 day money back guarantee which the USA already has is mint I never thought we would get to see that in the UK.  I dont know if the stolen for new and 30 day money back is a good idea in UK lol UK people are a bit dodgy and are skit rats lol

What in the heck are "skit rats"?    Is that JMB-speak?  [wink]    Or is that a British slang?

Hi Robert

Allow me to translate, a "skit rat" is a member of the lower socio-economic profile with a tendancy to steal, interbreed, have an exceptionally disfunctional moral compass, usually welfare dependant and in general are considered vermin to the hard working individuals that they prey upon.

I would suggest a simple analogy for you and your colleagues on that side of the pond would be

SKIT RAT = TRAILER TRASH

Hope that helps?  [big grin]

JMB,

The 48 hour turnaround is standard and has been for a long time. Note that it's 48 hours turnaround - ie they will fix it & despatch it within 48 hours of them receiving it. That doesn't include any shipping time. Having said that, on both occasions I've sent stuff in, they've turned it around in under 24 hours. However there is a clause that says it may be longer than that if they do not have the necessary spare parts in stock.

The only new parts of that warranty are the 30-day moneyback guarantee, and the £100 stolen tool bit - the 30 days was introduced by Festool USA first; the stolen tool replacement policy is standard in continental Europe. It's really great that they're finally bringing both those in over here.

Having said that, there's no mention of any of this on the Festool UK site. I would have thought that if they were planning on making these changes they'd have advertised/promoted it, but it has been known for Festool UK to announce things in the newsletters long after it's common knowledge on here!

Guy,

Are there skit rats that don't posess all of those qualities or is that a requirement?   [big grin]  Here the "trailer trash" as you put it, usually don't interbreed, but they do juggle.

I didnt know about the others but the 30 day money back and Stolen for new stood out to me as new so assumed the rest was also new. Well it must be true as its a valid warranty paper I received through the post yesterday but like you said it properly be announced in the newsletter which we should be getting soon right?!  I would of thought!

I speak English and struggle with JMB's posts sometimes, I think we know what he means though!

In december I got a letter from Festool that said the would wtop the "toolpoints program" and replace it with the expanded warranty as explained above. So no surprise for me.

I wonder how the dealers are going to respond to the 30 days money back, as this is e really new concept in Belgium (I think) I know, exept for some paperworkt, this shouldn't be a problem for a dealer, but it's just "not done" in our culture.

Same in the UK! If you have used it you can't return it. The only time you can get your money back is if it broken or brakes in a week after a week it can be swapped or sent of for repair not normally a refund But festool 30 returning a tool even if it's not faulty is new in uk and that's why I mentioned skit rats cus I can see a lot of people here just buying the tools using it and then returning it after use.

The stolen tool thing sounds great, but think of it this way:

There is some probability that your tool will be stolen.  Probably minute.  It happens, but the probability is most likely super low.
So you pay $100, most likely for nothing.  You'd probably get better return if you bought lottery tickets.

Kodi,

I think that if you register your new tool and it is later stolen while in the warranty period, you can then spend the 100 pounds for a new tool.

I don't think that it is a buy a policy for 100 pounds and then your tool is insured against theft for the warranty perios.

I could be wrong.
