Hi,

having just finished my first furniture build, i found a lot of the cuts were off square and having checked all the placed i could adjust i checked the apex fence, the part that cannot be adjusted other than back and forth etc

imagine my surprise that its not aligned, it has a gap in the centre, i.e it tilts in on both sides by a mm

just ordered another one from festool uk, grr £58.00

Very strange place to be out of alignment as its solidly made this section

oh well hope the pics show what i mean

pity its too old for warranty

Adrian

Too bad that you already ordered the part.  Some members have found that by loosening the bolts and then adjusting the two sides come into alignment pretty readily I believe.

Might worth a try.

I agree that it should not be like that but another way to sort it out would be to put sacrificial faces on each side and shim them out near the centre.

I had the same problem with mine and I thought before I order a new one I would try some metal bending. I took the fence off, place it on a couple of pieces of wood and tapped the center with a hammer. With a couple of strategically placed hits it is now perfectly straight. Probably not a recommended procedure, but it worked.

Hi

Thanks for the info,

I will try the tapping with a hammer.

I just thought that the webbing type structure would not allow it to bend

Will try and report back

Worse case scenario I will keep the order and have a kapex door handle!!

Thanks
Adrian

How's this for service

Ordered the fence and a screw for the fence slides on Thursday and they came today!!

Great service as normally waiting 5 plus days for fedtool items!

Works perfectly too

Peter, what bolt are you talking? It is possible to do picture or clarification for procedure? I just install Best Fence with my Kapex and discover that I have same problem with Kapex fence.

Same problem here.  Fence is out of alignment with the middle of the fence having the gap.  Had some kickback using the clamp that scared the (#&% out of me.

Ill try loosening the screws and retighten and if that doesn’t work ill try beating on it with a hammer .

I would call Festool service FIRST.
