I nearly took my new TS 55 to work today to show it off to the guys. I decided against it as Mondays are packed full of staff meetings but once I got to work I really wished I had decided to bring the saw.

I was asked to build a quick, simple and cheap cabinet/shelf combo for the pro desk area we've been remodeling over the last week and a half. Needless to say making long, straight cuts is a whole lot harder without my beloved TS, even with the panel saw the store has  and the table saw I have in my department.

Anyways, just thought I'd show you how much I missed Festool today...

Still have to attach the door and put shelves in on both sides.

that sucks! i cant imagin making straight cuts without the ts anymore.

I'll just say I spent a good chunk of time both on the panel saw and walking back and forth to it. At least my fit band got some good steps today.

This morning I needed to cut a soffit piece for the underside of an angled corner upper cabinet above a corner sink.  I made a quick stick template out of hardboard and hot glue.  I had the panel cut into the chamfered-diamond shape in four cuts with the TS 55.  No chipping.  No clean up.  Almost too easy.  The installer on site could hardly believe it.  Last week I had to make an angled cut along the top of a murphy bed faceframe where it met a sloped attic ceiling.  One cut, no messing around.  I don't know for certain if it's paid for itself yet in the short time I've had it, but I think it can't be too far off.

It's a pity when you own better tools than your employer offers.

Way to try to see the positive in the situation...

...but it's still like putting lipstick on a pig!

It really is. In my case it's not exactly my employers fault though because I can mark down anything we have on the shelves. That being said, Home Depot doesn't carry Festool.

Haha this is true, WOW.

Well regardless great job Staniam and look at the bright side....instead of selling you were building :). That's a win win right there by God!

I'm just curious, how often do you guys calibrate the panel saw and large radial saws you use for cutting for customers?  I've gotten some pretty funky cuts from my local HD in the past...
