Anyone know what type of hose I can use (other than Festool, ie something cheaper) that will fit my TS55 and can be converted on the other end to use with my existing 2 inch vacuum?  I want the connection at the saw to be correct, and then make the conversion at the vacuum end of the hose?  Any thoughts other than "quit being cheap and just buy the vacuum"?  Thanks!

Others will help out here, but Festool's 27mm NON Anti-static hose  Item #: 452877  $61.50 is less expensive (ie- in your budgte) than their supplied ANTI-static hose.

I have used my festools with the 27mm and 36mm anti-static hoses with my $99 sears shop vac with a gore-tex filter.  Works great for the time being and would be even better with a Dust Deputy to separate the incoming stream.  I will get a CT33 one of these days but in the mean time this works great.  I think the $235 cleaning set is an excellent value if you look at the item costs separately also.  I got one of those and it comes with the 36mm hose which is over $100 itself IIRC.  These Festool hoses plug right into the sears vac and of course work great with the Festools and cleaning set.

Max,

I assume you really have a 2.25 inch diameter inlet on your vacuum.  I have purchased this hose and it is an economical alternative to the Festool hoses.  It is designed for standard vacs and works with Festool.  It is not anti-static.  Here is the link:    Mr. Nozzle Hose kit

The vac end of that Mr Nozzle hose fits pretty well inside the 2-1/2" to 4" hose adapter from Woodcraft, also.

If you are looking for hose only, you can sometimes get pool vac hose on sale in longe lengths.  It is similar to the Mr Nozzle hose, not sure about anti- static but I doubt it is...  I find I like the anti-static hose and plastics that Festool uses as it is easier to keep the sustainers and stuff clean compared to the cheap cases most hand power tools come standard with these days.

Best,
Todd

I use the Mr Nozzle 1 1/2" hose too.  Both ends are compatible with festools.  I went as far as to try to replace the tool end with a Festool one (36mm). It didn't work, but the standard tool end that comes with the Mr. Nozzle can be attached to the TS55.

I don't know about pricing, but the 16 ft hose (5 m) supplied with my Fein Turbo II vac (about 6 years old) is a perfect fit into the Festool vacuum machine and vice versa.  The Fein hose is ~36mm, and much more flexible than the Festool AS hoses in 27mm or 36mm diameter -- of this I am certain as I have all of these and some 50 mm AS Festool hose, too.  The tool end of the Fein hose will directly fit the TS 55 saw and OF 1400 router, but not the Festool machines that have an oval shaped DC outlet (such as Deltex 93 sander and OF 1010 router) which require the elastomeric tool end fitting supplied with Festool's 27mm hose.  The Fein hose can be used with Festool machines which have a 27mm round DC outlet (including LS130, ETS 125 and ETS 150 and RO 125 sanders and any others with such round DC outlet) by first installing a rubber O-ring on the DC outlet nipple then pushing on the Fein hose.  I frequently do this with my RO 125 sander when working overhead due to its lighter weight and greater flexibility, plus the hose-to-nipple connection gains a bit of swivel action as well which facilitates getting into tight quarters.  I have yet to be shocked when using the Fein hose in place of the Festool AS hoses, although I have noticed some static buildup when working in low humidity conditions in my heated shop during Ohio winters.
