I know that their is a prevailing conception that those behind the scenes and also our most active members have used or have experience with most or all of the tools int eh Festool line up.  That is not true and we learn along the way especially from the real life experiences and postings from all here.

In April of last year I bought the LR-32 kit to go with my OF-1400 router.  I had a water leak insurance claim that damaged the floors and other stuff in my house and whereas I was going to have to clean out the linen closet in that bathroom for the first time in decades AND the fact that my supporting wife had collapsed the wire racking system in her closet for the second time...

Then back in August / September my truck died and I decided to go van.  I imagined the possibilities and read every post here I could about racking and also using the LR-32.

Slow forward to real time.  Although I had used the LR-32 in a class at Festool USA and had watched tons of videos and read posts from all of you I had not used it for real in MY scenario.

For me, in comparison to the other systems I have tried - what a freakin' dream.  I watched Steve Bace's video on setup (which I always recommend) and then went to it.  After the first round of holes I had to get my wife to watch how easy it was.

The racking isn't done but I wanted to say THANK YOU!  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] to all those who have posted here about the LR-32 and shown examples of their work - and if Festool is reading - thank you for coming up with a router based system that is certainly in the mid-ground area of cost between the drill based systems available everywhere and the big systems.

Drill holes my friends!

Peter

PS.  Never say never.  What you buy today will come in handy in the future.  Especially accessories.

Michael,

Thank you for posting that link!

I have read and loved the use of the dots and when Erock did his series I thought back to that thread.

Strangely my wife also likes to continually test the loading capacity of her closet's wire shelves with new clothes: "You obviously didn't install enough of those support brackets again!"

>:(

It's probably time I pick up some ply/melamine and break out my LR-32, which is also a dust catching accessory at this point...

All the threads and the videos I saw here on the site convinced me as well. I couldn't imagine doing projects without it.

When you think of all the storage solutions that you can start with adjustable shelves and then later switch to drawers...it's awesome.

I love my kit too, not only for its original purpose, but also for making short work of a DIY MFT, as well for ripping thin strips (as an alternate to the parallel guides)!
