Festool on Discovery Channel's Gold Rush

I saw too. I love Gold Rush! It looks like the guy in the hat may get his walking papers before long, though.

Todd's an interesting guy. He's the dreamer. Dave Turin is the pragmatist.

Todd's flawed, just like any of us. I like that the show lets you see that, but doesn't make a judgment.

Looks like it may be time to set up a thread to discuss this season!

The season trailer says one of the big three are going to hit it big this season, but they don't show you enough background to determine who's camp it is. Any guesses out there?

Hope it's Todd's gang. They have families to support and seem to be good guys. Not much of a Dakota Fred fan. I think Parker's just playing the dirt at his grandpa's expense.

Yeah, Shane might want to pay this dude NOT to wear the hat!  It appeared right after he about broke Parker's finger.  Only thing worse would have been a Todd Hoffman endorsement.

No such thing as bad publicity, right?  [huh]

It's not totally clear. Are the Quartz Creek and Indian River claims are pooling their gold profits at the end of the season?

Yes, they are. But there's a friendly competition between the two, just for fun.

Personally, Parker and his Gran'pa are my favorites. the kid is quite unusual and Gran'pa is living a dream with his grandson working along side.  Gran'pa is fairly busting at the seams and Parker is so responsible.  He is learning far more than he will learn in any school about responsibility to his family and to himself.

I know how the old guy feels (+90 and still out there)  I have had, and still look forward to more of same, the wonderful pleasure of having my son working with me and seeing him grow his own business well beyond what he learned from me.  And, within the past year, I have been helping my son on a job where his son (My GS) was working with us.  Three generations working together.  It just doesn't get any better than that.  Parker and his Gran'pa are two lucky AND very proud guys.

As for Todd, he is next n the totem pole of favorites.  Yeah, he's a dreamer, but I wish i could have his patience.  Does he ever get rattled?

Oh, and they mentioned that Dakota Fred's claim was at risk of being flooded - what about the Schnabels? The two claims are adjacent to each other, or very close.

Fred's claim is right on the river. He has a man-made levy that looks to be 50' or less wide separately the dig hole from the river. I don't think the two are as close as you think. Seemed like it was a trek from one to the other when Parker was helping them out with snow removal and the like. They drive to each other, not walk. But, I could be wrong. I tried finding them on Google Maps once but it looks like the satellite photography of that area is poor. As is the labeling of sites.

I love to what gold rush on discovery channel but still waiting for the season to start, oh well next week.
