We just did a series of 7 shows for HGTV in our area a few months ago.  They just started showing them last Saturday.  Obviously I'm not an actor, so the only part of me that made it in the show is my chin while the camera watches me cutting a cabinet front to accommodate an apron sink WITH MY FESTOOL TS55!!!  That's just the first show... there's seven more.  I know my Kapex, drills, and other goodies will be in there at some point  [big grin]

Festool, can you please PM me and I'll send you my address for the endorsement check....

HeHeHeee. Goodonya Electric man. They're just sour grapes.  [big grin]

Good for you... is that with the delightful Kaylee?  If it is, tell about her.

You're thinking of Kayleen McCabe.  That's not her show.  This seems to be a new one.

Electric Trim,

You're doing 7 shows and your chin is in one.  What about the others?  Is this like a body part cameo per show?  [big grin]

Lol, I'm barely in the shows because I'm not "the carpenter".  I'm just the carpenter that brings the 5 guys that actually do the work when the cameras aren't rolling.  Well, they shot 3 days of film and I'm seen by the camera a lot, I just get edited out and don't make the 30 minutes that go into the show you see on TV.

The Host on this show is Alexi Panos and Matthew Haley (the chair doctor).  He owns an upholstery business in New York called the Furniture Joint.  First time I met him, he let me know that "being a carpenter is easy... you just measure, cut the board and put it in.  Nothin to it"

Later that day, he asked me to show him how to shoot MY nail gun for the camera shot  [big grin]

Boy, that is really something...

How do those shows work?  Like, who pays for the makeovers?  Do the crashers actually conceptualize a design, line up subs, and get all materials overnite?

A local production company "Rivr Media" pays for the whole thing (general contractor, his/her subs, production assistants, meals for everyone, materials, designers, actors).  The homeowner pays for the taxes on everything (several thousand dollars) and some advertisers provide materials (Valspar paint, GE appliances, flooring companies, etc.)

I'm pretty sure that they foot the bill and pay to make these shows (3 day operation) and then sell the show/season to big broadcasting group like HGTV (where they make their money).

Festool sends free Dominoes/new power tools to people like me to motivate me to get all my Festool stuff on camera shots every chance I get[wink]
