Just got my replacement pick and pluck foam for an old Plano shogun case I had
Well now it has a set of new occupants
Recycle is good  [big grin]

It a Plano Gun Guard ( Bone Collection ) It measure 46" X 16" X 5.5 " External, with an Internal mesurment  of 43" X 13" X 5".
I have had this a while, don't remeber the price when I bought it
Got is for Shotgun from Cabela"s
Now I am not afraid to take to a job site

Wonderful idea, as you say recycling is good -- the price was right!

looking online i see several similar in principal (quality unknown) . i see this one at gun case

at 45 GBP its not too dear . is the quality of this good enough. i dont know anything about gun cases so no clue.

After transporting 3 of the 1400mm (55") rails from place to place for a few years without protection, I broke down and bought two of the cat 466 357 guide rail tote bags.

I was in the process of building my new shop when I finally bought a set of Parallel Guides with Extensions. Since I personally no longer work on sites, I have not worried about moving my parallel guides.

One of the cabinet makers working for me still does some site work. For 20 years he was a foreman with an entertainment carrying and transport case maker in the Los Angeles area. Of course he has Systainers for his many Festools, but he also has a large collection of rock & roll style ATA cases for his other tools which do not fit in Systainers. All his ATA cases have red ABS exteriors. One of those holds his parallel guides and extensions securely. He also has a similar case for guide rails up to 1900mm (75").

Years ago I signed the requisitions for hundreds of ATA cases and I bought one for myself. Trust me, Systainers are a bargain. I hope my guy got a swell discount on his.

The case is solidly built and actually some what heavy for the guide, I used it to carry a rifle and shotgun up hunting all the time in past and never worried about either of these guns.
Those days are now over for  me so I thought thos would be a great recycle.
Pricey maybe so but to me so were the guide and they need to be kept safe.

Thanks for the idea, I have a old gun case lieing around I havent used in years.

I got the parallel guides and have been looking for way to store them.

Great idea I'll use it if ya dont mind

Great Idea.

Case is $90.99 at Amazon
Plano 108420 Gun Guard AW Tactical Case 42"

They make a smaller 36" case that would be too short. Most of the other cases they carry don't seem to be deep enough to accomodate the curved portion of the guides. In case anyone needs the measurements of the guides, they measure roughly 38" long x 6" wide (at the brace) x 4" deep (curved portion).

If anyone finds another suitable case for less $ let us know. If I find something, will post it.
