Festool PSB 420 Carvex help

So I was really excited to get this saw. I quickly realized after using it a few times, I can't see where the heck I'm cutting. Maybe it's the splinter guard or maybe it's the wood pcs bouncing all around inside, idk? any suggestions or help?  I hate to sell it, it's been used maybe 4 or 5 times, but I find myself dragging out my DeWalt instead of using this....

Do you have the light in strobe mode or always-on?

With the splinter guard on and cut/dust shield down the visibility is super poor. I've never actually done this but you can technically use the saw from the bottom so that all you see is the blade if necessary. I'll likely be selling mine for many reasons...

i do have the light on all the time. It is very hard for me to see exactly where I am cutting and was wondering if anyone thought the same and i see i am not alone. I hate to sell it bc I love all my other Festool products and figured I would reach out here b4 I sold it. Any other suggestions would certainly be welcome. thanks

    Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

      Sorry to hear that you are having trouble seeing the cut / line .  The anti-splinter guard and DC shield will undoubtedly obscure the cut and line to some degree. I have not used another saw with the two features so I don't have a basis for comparison. I can generally see my cut with both in place but I tend to lean well forward and look somewhat through the front. I also tend to use a thick dark line for jigsaw work regardless of what saw  I may be using.  If I need to see better I remove one the other or both features depending on the need for the particular cut. I do like that the DC shield can be slid up/down in mid cut (press and slide in the center, don't squeeze the sides).  And with practice the pointers on the front of the anti-splinter guard can be quite accurate.

Thanks Seth. Just feel like removing the 2 options are taking away what separates this saw from others. I really wanted this saw for the "dustless" feature. Maybe I'll try removing the splinter guard. thanks for replying with your thoughts. Thanks again

Well, yes, but they are still available options when usable. Compared to not available at all.
