I have a large oak trusse and a few large oak beams to fit in a property and was wondering does anyone know any options for revealing the grain in the manner that the rustofix would do.
The client wants a good finish and I explained that straight and smooth like a sheet of oak finished mdf is not going to have a lot of character. He knows this is not my area of expertise but he also knows I can make trusses.
Any pointers appreciated.
Also anyone used or have experience with the Rustofix? How long do the brushes last?
I would like to think forever given the price.

Tool fest still sell the brushes. Perhaps it would be possib;e to modify an angle grinder to accept them.
Rustofix was essentially an "accessory" of sorts mounted to the RAS 180 sander body. It had way lower speeds compared to a normal angle grinder. A speed-controlled one at 3000-ish rpm would probably work, but you really want less than that and the torque the gearing provides.

There are other makers for this type of stuff though. Not much sense fudging it with an angle grinder unless for a one-off job. Finding a powerful-enough angle grinder with speed control is a challenge on its own.

Thanks.
I might try these...
With a a Dewalt DWP 849X-GB.
