Was thinking about getting one of these and was just wondering what size systainer it came in? Anyone know?  Looks like a mini but not sure

It's a Mini Systainer.
Newer models come in a T-Loc Mini and the socket wrench is a newer model.

Just looked at that yesterday on the Festool.de website and they switched it to a T-Loc version.....

I know this set is all Festooly and lovely, etc. But for the price there are far more comprehensive socket sets available from equally as reputable hand tool manufacturers.

I know, I don't get the infatuation people have with this set, it's not even made by Festool but just rebranded.

I like the stuff Festool designs originally, but not simple rebrands for double the price it should have.

I recently spoke to a representative from Wiha Holland about making products for Festool, like the Centrotec bits.
He told me they only make the CE screwdriver handle and the latest one with a Wiha bitholder which is called SD-CE Drive+UNI.
They don't make any other parts for Festool.

That UNI looks sweet. Do you know if it accepts both standard and centrotec ball detent bits?

I don't get all excited about this set either. I have a nice socket set. I store it in a 5 drawer systainer and also have other tools screw drivers etc in the systainer that makes a nice tool box. I sent it on my CT with my WC and I have a quick rolling tool box that has the majority of tools I would need for the majority of my wood working projects etc.

For what it's worth, I own this set (which, by the way is almost fully duplicated within the Limited Edition 2015 NAINA Centrotec Set), and I use it all the time.

It is packaged nicely within a mini-systainer, making it easy to throw in a bag or back of the car, and it's usefulness has been constant.

It may have been expensive, but I believe I've already gotten my money's worth, and it's still as good as new.

Cheers,
Frank

I don't know what this set costs, but I'd bet that if you put the same set together using Snap-on items, it would be 2-3 times the price of the Festool set. [eek]

Well lads I know it's not festool but I picked up this little snap on set. Happy days

I just looked up the cost of similar sized sets from Stalwille and Wiha, and the Festool set was actually less costly, or maybe equal, if you go by the RRP listed on AmazonUK.

The idea of the kit is appealing. Anyone know is Snap-on makes a similar kit?

Here's a 20 piece Snap-on set for $442 minus the driver bits. Snap-on gets $10 for each driver bit and at 19 bits, well,
you can finish off the math on that one. [eek]
Plus you still need the mini Systainer + foam inserts because I despise the blow-molded cases.

I have a Beta set that I adore, it's the 900/C11. Use them more than anything. I paid $120 shipped from the UK, I believe most of the kit is made in Italy. Beta isn't really big in the US, but look at any garage during a MotoGP race and you'll probably see Beta everywhere. They used to have small in-roads into Formula 1 as well.

They focus heavily on ergonomics and you'll find very organic shaped handles and such; they don't do round handles like you see in the US/German brands...because newflash, your closed hand isn't round.  [scared]

They make a Mini set now too if you need portability, but is in a plastic case instead of sheetmetal.

The Wiha CentroFix bitholder which is attached to the new UNI handle does fit E6.3 and C6.3 bits as well as the Centrotec bits.
