Festool Syslite overview

For what it's worth... I ran it for 4½+ hours when I was testing the various external batteries. Yes, it got a little toasty on the metal parts of the case after that period of time but it never shut off for overheating. The tests were done in the office, my vehicle and my home with an ambient temperature around 70F or so.

I havent seen the red light turn on while using my Syslite. It's gotten warm but I haven't ran it for more than 3 hrs straight. Just today I had the Syslite plugged in in an attic while I was installing a set of attic stairs, and it was in the upper 90's today, and the light preformed beautifully. Overall I'm still happy with purchase and I find myself using the Syslite so much more because of its convenience, instead of struggling to see in a poorly lit area.

I bow to you Dave. 100 degrees today not including the heat index and you decide to hang out in an attic instead of with Kreg.  [big grin]

I own two and they both act the same. When using them connected to the main (AC) When I turn the lights off they go to red eye for 30 minutes or so then go to charge with blinking green.  I haven't had the time to sit and watch them charge, I just want to get home....  but I'm seeing that during the red light time is the unit is not charging as charge time is more than three hours of being plugged in.

I'm now starting to get the red some of the time when I charge them after only using them on internal battery.

My Festool Rep is tracking this and has told me he has been able to reproduce the red light with his and that he is talking to Festool about this issue. He is good guy and I look forward to hearing back from him.

Cheers,
Steve

Ok, I may have jumped the gun on needing a syslight and bashing the price.  Have a full house cabinet install, its hot as heck, bright as day, but some of the bathrooms are pitch black...good thing I have my Festool lighted level...

Jon, your situation is the exact reason I purchased the syslite!  I recently installed a kitchen that had no lights powered, plenty of windows but it was very overcast facing the north side and I couldn't see squat until I busted out my syslite. If I knew I would've never needed it, I wouldn't have purchased it, there's no way you'll see me running halogens in the summer heat...

I haven't really put my syslite to test yet.  I did get a halogen lite a few years back, ran it for a few minutes, shut the thing off and never fired it up again.  I have offered it to my son to use when he has to work on equipment late at nite, but he has never come by to pick it up.  I think he is nervous about the heat around diesel fuel and gasoline.  I have looked my syslite over and it doesn't look like heat can escape like it does with the halogen.  I could be wrong, but don't think any remarks on this discusion lead me to doubt my purchase.  I have used it for a few minutes in my cellar while looking at electric panel with my electrician.  It definitely gives off a lot of light evenly distributed. Come winter and sno plow time, I wil find out how good he lite is.

Just did a mission trip with a bunch of church high school youth. Went up to the top of Sunrise mountain in NJ (to watch the sunset  [big grin] ). Coming down the trail in the dark, the Syslite lit up enough area for 5-6 people to come down accident free.  [cool]

Had a lot of questions from my peers on the light. More sales coming your way, dealers.
