Psyched- finally going to a Festool class!!
Going to doors and drawers in June.
Anyone else signed up?

I just attended my first Festool class this past week and my next one is in 4 weeks.  Judging from what I've heard and what little I've seen I believe the next class I'm going to will be the most useful class Festool has, the essentials class.  I've got a feeling that the essentials class might be one that's worth attending more than once.

I took it in LV, I want to take it again. There is so much info thrown at ha in such a short time and with the new kit there is way to much to learn and info to soak in my pea brain in such a short time.

To the OP which training Center is your pilgrimage to? Indiana or LV?

So what gets covered in these sessions? The one Festool event I've been to (Aus) was "product training", but in reality was a sales event. I'm really interested in actual training, and Festool surveys keep asking about training, but none's materialised so far.

I have a feeling you will see the training classes sooner than later.

I've been to about 4 training classes in LV. Sure they all sort of seem like a sales class, but they give us a project or series of projects to build using festools, and you learn how to use the tools to the fullest, well until you or someone else comes up with a new application for the tool. But it's sort of mind numbing because there is so much info coming at ya it's hard to remember all of it. I wish they would give us a DVD on the build so we could remember all we were taught.

BTW I spend a average of about 2k on tools when I finish a class, not because of the sales angle, but because the tools are that good and after learning what ya can do with them they sell themselves.

That's why they should pay us to go to the classes!

Hey now--- !!  :o

I agree there is selling, but in my opinion not really hard core. Steve reminds you that it is a savings to buy a kit vs individual tools and then their accessories, but honestly he is not a sales guy, and does not know a lot of the prices right off the top of his head.

You do learn the 'Festool Way' to do things, and new ways to use tools and accessories, for example using the Kapex crown extensions on the MFT as a little jig to do Domino mortices, or use the RAS 115 like an angle grinder to scribe toe kicks to walls etc.

And, at least if you go to Vegas, Steve is a great and fun guy, especially if you like to BS a bit, and can take the same coming your way!

The classes fill up fast, and are typically limited to 6 users per class, so you get a lot of one on one vs having a bunch of people there and maybe getting lost or not being able to ask questions. Plus, its just fun!

Once again, Festool Training opens up some slots.....and they are ALWAYS during one of my six-week work tours in Nigeria! [mad]
This has happened repeatedly for two years.

How bout letting me register for one that isn't even on the books yet?? [tongue]

Hey Greg, this is Jim I was in the class with you last week.  I agree they should pay us for the classes, or maybe at least include them with the tool purchases.

Kings Mountain, right?

Festool has to know that the classes result in more tool and accessory sales.  I know Greg didn't do any selling in our class but the tools sell themselves when you see what they can do.  I mean it got me interested in the parallel guides which I have no interest in buying.  However, I thought I'd never be interested in the CMS but I must admit that I'm now going to buy one, eventually.
