I'm just curious if anyone has ever tried to use the Festool WCR1000 Work Center with another brand of dust extractor.  There are several others that will accept systainers on top. Specifically the Mirka / Nilfisk / FLEX models that all seem to be the same.  They have an adapter accessory that allows the vacs to hold a Systainer or L-Boxx. I'm curious because i have one of the FLEX extractors, and I have the opportunity to buy a WCR1000 really cheap. So I was hoping someone might have tried this and could tell me if it works.  Thanks.

I don’t have a Flex or other brand vac that are compatible with systainer.

But I did as you are about to; buy a very cheap WCR 1000.
I have adopted it to the new CT Mini/Midi from Festool (and I doesn’t fit in original shape)
As the new Mini/Midi is quit compact and low, I happened to have a hose garage for an CT 22 that came with the purchase of the WCR 1000 amongst other things. I have adopted the house garage to my CT Midi, mounted on the “old clasp’s” to gain more height for the WRC 1000.
I hade to grind down the tabs on the CT 22’s hose garage to make it fit. It wasn’t obvious at first where it needed modifications. The WCR 1000 can also me mounted with 4 screws.

I’m going to build a cart for the WCR with an integrated stool and option for systainers - I’m probably going to make room for the CT SYS to go with the cart. I think it’s going to be more versatile by doing this as there’s not always need for a vac, I’d rather have tools, systainers and a stool to cart around.

Brilliant,  I love that idea.  Definitely sounds useful. I actually found a video on YouTube where a guy did something similar.  He mounted the WCR to a wooden platform that sat on top of an older systainer.  I don't think he said anything about using a grinder.  But he did use screws as you suggested.  I think I'm going to do something more along the lines of your idea. The FLEX extractor i have is the larger one.  It's roughly the same capacity as a CT48. And with the WCR mounted on top of a platform,  that's sitting on a Systainer, it's would be a large contraption. Maybe a little top heavy as well.  At any rate,  thanks for the ideas. I would love to see some photos of yours.  If you get a chance,  post some pics.

Suppose the video you watched was Half Inch shy?
I believe he made a box that fit snuggly over the old CT Mini DC.

I think the WCR 1000 can be adapted for more uses than originally intended.
Ie:
- As a centrally rack on the top of a large work table if you have that kind of space. Put it on a plate with wheels and you can move your “tool wall” with you on top of the table.
- As with the original stool that is available.
- As a functional top on top of a low rolling SYS Port.
- Build a combination of a cart with place for 2-3 systainers in drawers with a fold down seat/stool on the end - that’s going to be my “version” - with hook for the DC hose and room for a CT SYS.

Here’s how mine is living as of now, not too happy as the CT Midi needs to go where there’s clearance, ie: It can’t sneak under any bridges, nor pop up under and between the legs of any table..
Edit: Forgot to mention that most of Raaco’s tool holders for the perforated plate fits, as seen on mine.

I am interested in the WC.  I have seen many pictures with all the hooks and tool holders.  What really comes with it as is?  Looks like $400 for the WC and about $500 for all the doodads to make it useful.

This is what it comes with:

There are t-tracks at both columns, on 4 sides. So you have the ability to mount your own thingy’s. A SYS led light, a SYS Rock, a holder for tools, paper towel.. possibilities to make your own in an easy way is right there. The only thing I find a bit flimsy is the bottom tray and the way it attaches. But that may be the easiest to adapt. Everything else is solid aluminium, powder coated steel and rigid plastic (the swing-able tray)

Thank you [member=71478]FestitaMakool[/member] .  Thats very helpful.  I see there is more there than I expected.  Appreciate you finding this photo.  This may sound silly but is it possible, or even feasible, to 'hang' the TS 55 on there?  I have seen a few good shots of wooden docks folks have made.

You’re welcome!

I don’t see any issues hanging a TS 55 on it. It would all in all depend on the total load.
A TSC 55 including batteries would be heavy, but then again it’s more of a question where you put it. If you stack the WCR on a DC it’s load may become top heavy and more proud to tip over.

The WCR 1000 is in itself quite weighty and well constructed so alone it can handle a lot of weight.

Trying to figure out how to do it.  With the sanders and Domino, they seem built to fit onto one of those tool hooks.  The TS 55 is not so accommodating.. [big grin]
