I have a good number of Festool power tools now and for the most part love them but if there is one thing where I think they all fall short is the lack of fine adjustment and provision for fine calibration. Let's take an example.
Calibrating the TS55R square position is done by a unscrew-move-tighten procedure.
Setting TS 55 toe-in : same. That one is actually HARD because the part is plastic and the saw wants to snap back in the same position it was tightened before, making fine adjustment nearly impossible to achieve.
Those are just one example but as far as I know, calibration by the mean of set screws is NEVER implemented in Festools. Prove me wrong if you can.
Frankly, those unscrew-move-tighten adjustments are just a PITA. The process of calibrating any Festool is a tedious, time consuming and frustrating task. Sometimes I would overshoot the correction. Sometimes it would move while tightening back tight, throwing the calibration completely out of adjustment. It's freaking time consuming and produces nothing (except white hair maybe).
I know for a fact my TS55R is not dead square but I don't want to try to make it better because I know it took some time to get there and I might throw it out of square more than improve it. A set screw would make this not only a breeze but also more reliable and more precise.
The toe-in of my TS55R is also not exactly what I would like but since it's "close" I don't want to risk messing it more.
My tool that could perfectly be 100% dead-on is not, it's a shame.
So PLEASE let the ingeneering teams know that fine adjustment would be much appreciated on ALL detents, stops.
Oh and while you're at it : a Kapex should be able to be fine tuned on EACH mitre setting INDEPENDENTLY. Not one calibration for all mitre angles. Same for all the situations where there are more than one stop / detent. A TS should have a seperate calibration of 45 and 90° and so on.
