I've got a 4m pine mopstick handrail to finish and fit in my own house. I don't normally get involved in finishes I use a decorator.

What's the easiest clear finish to apply that is hard wearing. I see a lot on here about osmo ??

My handrail on the ground to first floor I did with varnish but that takes ages to dry and is a bit of a pain . I'd like something that I can just wipe on nice and simple :)

Just found a tin of liberon Danish oil I had already looks like that will do the trick .

Thoughts ??

Should be fine , it dries to a hard layer. You could use Ronseal quick drying varnish,  its dry in 20 mins (blue tin) its acrylic based so no smell as well . Few coats and it will last for ages and it even dries that quickly between coats

I used the Osmo top finish on a worktop in my office, dead simple and it is wearing great. For the record I am "finishing-challenged", always looking for foolproof products and Osmo fit the bill.

One vote for Osmo.

I just gave it a coat of Danish oil ,looks nice. I've only ever used it on butcher block worktops.

I highly recommend General Finishes water base poly. It's sprayable, wipe able  and brush able. It dries quickly and depending on Temp can be relocated in a hour or two. It is extremely hard and has very little order to it. Let me find you A like they are starting to sell it over here.

Just checked they don't sell the poly but they sell the precat lacquer which is pretty good stuff

Cheers

I've gone with the liberon Danish oil that I had already. Had 2 coats so far ,they recommend 3. Nice and simple wipe on took me about 2 minutes to do a 4m rail
