Last summer I started to build cabinets for my garage. Tonight I finished the last part of those tonight. The pull-out shelf in the middle of each.

The shelf is 3/4" maple plywood with poplar edging. The poplar is attached with dominos.

Thanks for looking

They look much to nice to be in the garage.  Pull out shelf is a nice idea

Haha, right?

No way I'd pull out my transmission and put it on that. [tongue]

Looks great though.

Thanks.  The maple ply was acquired on sale at one of the box stores.  The face frames and cabinet frames are poplar.  The door panels are 1/4" underlayment (which had a nice looking grain pattern, so....)

Those shelves probably wouldn't hold your transmission either.... [eek]  I think the slides are maybe rated for 75lbs.

Good learning experience through this process.

Great idea with that pull out shelf. A horizontal surface that is useable while at the same time being stowable. Clever use of the space. [big grin]

Neal,
Great job!  You gave me some good ideas.  How deep are the cabinets and pullout shelves?

Thanks, Mike

[member=30413]mike_aa[/member] Pull out sheves are roughly 20" deep.  The cabinets themselves are about 24" deep.  The two cabinets are 75" tall and roughly 35" wide.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] My supervisor (aka the wife) and I decided we didn't really need drawer space, but it would be handy to have something to set things on if you had to get things out of the upper sections of the cabinets (as opposed to setting them on the floor.)  I can always use some added horizontal space when working on things, but my tools also share that space (begrudgingly) with said supervisor's vehicle.  We needed more storage and not necessarily a permanent countertop.  So this is what I came up with. Glad you like the idea.
