Enough of us now have the First Aid Systainer that there should be some good/embarrassing/fun storied about how you've used yours. Post your stories here - WITH PICTURES, please?

I'll make it more interesting. I bought bulk quantities of items whenever I could. They came packaged in batches that ranged from 5 of an item to 250 of other things. Because of this I ended up with some 'leftovers' of certain things. So here's my offer:

Post your story ALONG WITH A PICTURE, and tell us what you used out of your First Aid Systainer to mitigate the problem. IF I have leftovers of whatever you used, I'll send you some replacements so you can restock your First Aid Systainer. All for FREE, of course!!

No promises that I have extras of what you need, but even if I can't send you anything it should be interesting or funny or scary to read everyone's stories.

Can't wait to hear from YOU?!

I was cleaning a number of spiral wood bits over the holidays.  They had some rust on them and i was working to remove the rust.  They were held in my lathe at slow speed and I used Boeing T9 and 600 grit paper to clean them.

My finger slipped and I ended up with a nasty cut on the end of my left index finger.    No photos, because I don't do well with injuries.

Then I remembered I had a tool for that - a Wow Limited Edition Systainer First Aid kit.

I quickly grabbed a paper towel to stop the bleeding and grabbed the Systainer.  Found Adhesive Bandages, Hydrogen Peroxide, Tape, Scissors and Antibiotic Ointment in a  matter of a few seconds.  Cleaned up the gash, patched it up and ended up changing several times as the bleeding subsided.  LOVED the instant access in the top panel to the most needed items.

My wife noticed the kit and was amazed at what was in it.  Was most impressed with all the items as she's more medically inclined than I am.

Thanks Wow - you made a slip-up in the shop easy to deal with and helped me to remain calm!

Great kit.  Really great kit!

neil

PS - I have gone through about 25 bandaids since having the kit and was able to find exact replacements on Amazon.  May need to replace the antibiotic packets next.

Thanks for posting your story, and glad the injury wasn't severe.

Let me see if I have any extra triple-antibiotic packets that I can send your way...

I haven't needed to use either of mine yet aside from a band aid or two. ( I hate bleeding on stain grade wood from a little nick on the finger).

I did have a question as to where you got the splints from though. I'm a back country skier (hiker) and I carry things to immobilize a broken extremity but the Orange splint I don't have in my ski  (or hiking) kit. I haven't looked but maybe you know a better place than Amazon for a 5 pack or so.

A story to go along with hurting our selfs. My parents got me an iPad for Christmas with finger print recognition. I joked about putting multiple fingers in the database incase I loose one. For some reason my mom didn't think that was funny :/

Other contractors are always asking to use mine on the job site, its amazing how many trades don't carry their own First Aid kits  with them. I don't have the limited edition, its just a sys1 with a red T-loc catch on it, my regret is having not made it a sys 3 or possibly a Sortainer first aid kit.

One of mine sits at the ready.  It's really a top shelf product if we're honest.

Those are called SAM splints. From Wikipedia:

The SAM (Structural Aluminum Malleable) Splint is a compact, lightweight, highly versatile device designed for immobilizing bone and soft tissue injuries in emergency settings. It consists of a layer of .016 inches (0.41 mm) strips of soft aluminum, with a polyethylene closed-cell foam coating on each side.

The SAM Splint was invented by Dr. Sam Scheinberg who, as a trauma surgeon during the Vietnam War, found that field medics generally ignored the splint then issued by the Army. He developed the idea while playing with a foil chewing gum wrapper.

Amazon has a  Sam Splint 2 pack for $19.95 and it's part of their 'Prime' program. That's the best price I know of unless you want to buy a case of 12? I don't have any extras of those, plus I'd have to charge shipping which would make them fairly costly by comparison.

REI also carries the SAM splints in two sizes.
