So i just got my first festool today.  OF 1010.  Nice, small, but... no quick change bases! or chip catcher! and no ratchet bit change.  ok i know i don't need the ratchet but it just looked so cool.  i Remember the first time i saw Paul M. change a bit on his video i was like wow they think of everything.  Okay so no big deal but i am a little disappointed with the no magnetic bit catcher and copy ring.  who knows in 29 days i might upgrade to the OF 1400.  Or maybe just add it...

Congrats.  I think you have made a great choice the OF 1010 is like no other router out there small, precise and SO easy to use.  Even though at the moment I am twitterpated with the RO90 the OF 1010 is my Favorite Festool.

Keep the OF1010 and complement it with an OF2200.

this was the original plan.  yes i will likely stick with the plan.  the LR 32 sounds so appealing.  and it seems like the ticket for door edges and stuff like that.

Congrats, the OF 1010 was my first Festool as well a few months ago. I love the weight, ease of use, and all the options I can get for it (really looking forward to getting the accessories for doing edge banding) soft start and dust collection are great!

Maybe at some point down the road I'll need something more powerful (maybe not though, I'm just a hobbyist so multiple passes works fine for me) but for now the 1010 works fantastic and now that the rumor mill is saying Lee Valley is going to be carrying 8mm bits for reasonable prices, that will open up higher torque operations like heavier stock removal at a single pass.

Good luck with it, the 1010 is definitely a gem.

My 1010 came with a chip catcher and an insert for copy rings. Check your case. The ratcheting feature I would like as well, but the collet lock I found to be less fiddley than other routers I've used

Mines did to. Been using ithe chip catcher quite a bit on my latest project. Mines had another plate (plastic) that I could use regular guide bushings with my 1010. I set up my porter calbe guide bushing so I could use my pc dovetail jig.

The accessories arent that expensive to purchase. The one I feel should of came with the 1010 is the edge guide. But (festool wise) it wasnt that expensive to buy either.

Festools are happier with their friends around them ... I hate sad tools ...

I have the plate that the regular guides go into i was just hoping that it would be magnetic.  Yes the no ratchet is fine likely keeps the weight down and it is a very simple locking mechanism that works well.  I did have a problem though.  i over adjusted the micro adjuster and it jammed up on the stopper washer thing.  now i have an o ring between the back lock collar i will call it and the black bottom part of the adjuster.  is this normal?  or should it be up inside?  I am having great difficulty posting pics so i you have an OF1010if you could PM with your e-mail i will e-mail you the pic.

If ya had ot less then 30 days ya can take it back. Remember festool has a 3 year warranty. They also have awesome customer service.

So bring it back to the dealer they will hook ya up.
