Fitting my first door.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge and experience.

I have bought a glass door as a direct replacement for a solid wood internal cupboard door.

The opening direction will be swapped so I need to refit the hinges on the other side of the door frame. My suspicion is that it will be easier to fit the hinges to the door then line that up with the frame. Or should I fit the hinge to the frame first?

Mount to the door first. It will much easier to mark the frame once the hinges are on the door and since you are switching sides there are no existing holes on the frame to align with. BTW, the tutorial that jobsworth posted is great!

Fit hinges on door.
(Double-) Check the distance between them when mounted.
Easiest to measure from the underside edge where the tap goes in to the same place on the other hinge. 

Check that the floor is level across the width of the door opening - and the swing radius of the door.
If it isn't you need to factor in the clearance and in worst case trim the door to match the offset.

Mark out the bottom hinge on the door frame and don't forget to raise it enough to clear the floor as per above and depending on whether you have a threshold or not. Then transfer the measurement you have from your hinged door to the upper hinge on the frame from the lower hinge you have just marked out/mounted.

I usually mark from the top edge where the tap protrudes from as it is a good reference to match your already fitted hinges and it will correspond with the measurement you took after fitting the hinges to the door.  This takes away trying to measure against an end radius and gives an easy to mark spot.

In "perfect" surfaces and three hinged doors I have sometimes placed the door on 4-5mm shims and swung the door free so that I can mark out bottom hinge directly and then measure up to the next (or top) hinge.

The third hinge I usually mark out after hanging the door on the two hinges which makes for a perfect fit regardless of whether it is the middle or the top hinge. On heavier doors I prefer doing the top and bottom hinges and then fit the middle one. Unless the door is very tall, then the middle hinge. On four hinged doors I have done the bottom and the third first.

But, there are many ways to fit a door. Others may have a more refined technique.
